So as most of you know, I am having surgery today to repair an broken nose and perforated septum. This will be like my 10th surgery and I still get anxious/nervous.

Has anyone had multiple surgerigies and still get nervous? I know as it gets closer I am gonna start freaking out. I am scheduled to go in at 1pm.

Share your experiences with us. Unless it involves them removing the wrong testicle. LOL

I think you would have to be a very weird person not to be nervous. Just think that they have done these ops many times before & know what they are doing. If it was the kind of operation that would make your surgeon a pioneer in medical science, then I'd be absolutely shitting myself.

Back when I was 18 I had tonsillitis, glandular fever & quinsy. Not the best of times, but the op I had was done more or less the same night I was admitted to hospital. Fast forward a year & my tonsils were then removed. The funny thing was that everyone in the ENT ward were all fit & healthy the day before, but after their ops they were like the walking wounded, lol. A couple of guys were in to get their noses fixed & the next day they looked like pandas squaring up to each other for a fight as they shuffled around the ward :D

You'll be fine, but good luck with it anyway :)

good luck TINK!

I've had surgery on my eye before to fix a double-vision problem of mine, and man it sucked after the surgery because i was allergic to the stitch's in my eye.
aw man that sucked.... talk about thinking you have something stuck in your eye and there's nothing you can do, and you cant touch it/ rub it. :"[[[

i gotta admit i was nervous a little, but since i'm an addict i was thinking about getting fucked up when the anesthesiologist gives me the good dope lol.

the doc gave me a excuse to wear my stuna shades in school. so when i was smoking weed everyday i had a good excuse for my eyes being red and get to look way cool in school. :)

oh man, TINK, i feel for ya. i've had several surgeries on my nose alone including septoplasty, reconstruction and bone shaving. i can't imagine anyone who doesn't get nervous even after several surgeries, but you're knocked out and it's over before you know it.

for me the worst parts were the following days after my nasal surgeries - the packing is so uncomfortable and every time i'd swallow it felt like i was suffocating. thank god for pain pills that had me feeling no pain and little else.

everything will be fine and i wish you a speedy recovery, TINK!

Mas Mas Amor for you TINK!! <3 hope everything goes well!

I once had tiny electrodes implanted in my cranium, right before the blood brain barrier, to pick up unnecessary electrical impulses that caused epileptic sezures. They didn't figure it out but it looked really cool! ;) Get well soon TINK!

tink,
i have had countless surgeries and am missing various internal parts. i have had botched surgeries and yet i am too dumb to be nervous about going in.
in the vast majority of times, these procedures are successful and the patient is in better form after the work has been done.
my nose had been broken and repaired 2x. the second time i was a shit head and pulled the packing out the day after surgery. do not do this as the septum will not heal correctly.
you will be fine afterwards tink, that is unless you have a VA quack doing the work. you are good people and we are rooting for you and your wrong testicle.

I feel your nervousness, TINK - i've had multiple surgeries for endometriosis - all laparoscopies, and every single time, i get really nervous. They gave me a REALLY good drug last time, apparently I asked the anaesthetist if i could take some home, lol. ;) It was about 30 mins before the surgery and it took all the anxiety away. Will you have someone with you honey?

When you're up to it, please let us know how it went <3 xx

I am doing good except for the the pain and not getting the traditional pain meds to do all that. Because of my addiction issues they have to careful what they give me. So the stuff I am on is doing NOTHING for the pain!!

As as Fawkes said swallowing feels like you are suffocating. Packing comes out tomorrow and my lovely little sister is her to tke care of me!

Cletus -- it definitely takes you down a few pegs on the alpha scales.

thanks guys!

I've had various surgical procedures done on me. Mainly trauma surgery that was not booked ahead tho, giving one little time to be anxious. At this point, I really aint nervous about surgery anymore. But I also have a very high paramedics qualification (Akin to EMT-P plus surgical assistant) So familiarity with what goes on during the process eases anxiety.
