Going to use Paxil + DXM tomorrow for potentiation

Tomorrow morning I intend on taking 5mg of Paxil (Paroxetine) with about 100 - 150mg of DXM.

The DXM also has a lot of Guaf. in it, but I'm gonna take 25mg of Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) with it hoping it will combat the urge to vomit.

Is there any significant danger with using 5mg of Paxil to potentiate my DXM? I can function normally (as in: I can act completely sober) on doses of DXM under ~180mg. About how much will the effects of DXM be amplified if I add 5mg of Paxil?

Where did you hear of Paxil potentiating DXM? It's rather common knowledge that taking DXM in combination with an SSRI is rather risky, and may lead to something called serotonin syndrome. My advice: don't.

I like to think I'm a pretty responsible person. I weigh about ~135 lbs., so my doses of

165 mg DXM
240 mg Pseudoephedrine
2975 mg Guaifenesin

25 mg Diphenhydramine

5 mg Paroxetine

Aren't anything that would substantially affect my self-control.

I took it this morning before school, and the day went by fine. And wow, the Paxil really helps prolong the effects of the DXM! I took all this at ~6:00 a.m. and now it is 4:00 p.m. and I'm still on a buzz that I'd get from the peak of ~120 mg DXM.

The reason I took so much Guaifenesin and Pseudoephedrine is because the pills were Panmist-DM 32 mg / 595 mg / 48 mg and I took five.

Some day soon when I get more DXM I'm going to up my Paxil dose to 10 mg and see how that works out.


I took a nap at school at one point and the closed-eye visuals were pretty interesting; they were pretty identical to any abstract dream except for the fact that I was completely awake and I could hear every noise and conversation in the room. The visuals continued as long as my eyes were closed, and I could control them to a large extent. They were more like extremely lucid dreams than visuals. No geometric patterns or anything psychedelic though. I've never experienced that.

Time went by super slow, but that is cool because I had a fun time. At lunch I didn't intend on eating, but over the course of 40 minutes I managed to subconsciously eat the chicken patty out of my burger while I was talking to my friend.

I like how my pupils look now.

Mixing SSRI's and DXM can cause serotonin syndrome......not a good idea.

NOT a good idea to mix Paxil with DXM. Your lucky you didn't experience serotonin syndrome which can be fatal. Upping your dose of Paxil to 10mg to combine with DXM is an awful idea. I thought this was common knowledge.

All I've read so far has been people speculating that DXM + Paxil isn't a risk worth taking, but I've never read of any actual events where people suffered serotonin syndrome as a result; actually, I've only read good reports.

And mine is another good report.

Don't you think there is a threshold dose combination under which it should be relatively safe (as far as drug use goes) to combine DXM and Paxil? People seem to think it can spontaneously cause serotonin syndrome on the same dose that it didn't previously.

I have another question; a while back (a few months ago) I took 20 mg Paxil all at once to experiment. (Dumb, I know). It made me feel sick, in a very weird way. I felt nauseous, but it was kind of like a different type of nausea I had never experienced before. I also unconsciously clenched my jaw, but that happens to me even on 5 mg of Paxil. I felt weak too. Is this serotonin syndrome, or just an overdose? Exactly what is serotonin syndrome as you people define it, because it seems like there are fatal ones and non-fatal ones. There has to be some certain aspect of it which is lethal but isn't always triggered until a threshold dose is reached or something.
