Thursday I get my refill for my Oxycontin and Oxy IR for breakthrough. Normally he leaves the scrips at the front office desk for me to pick up, but I have an actual apointment that day with him.

I want to ask him for another pain med to go with the oxy's. I'm sure he will suggest some, but what does everyone here think would be good to take to mix with oxycontin for pain? I have brain tumors (10 of them) and can get whatever I want. Within reason. Nothing to brag about.

Thanks for any help.

Oh and also maybe a sleeping pill because sometime the oxy keeps me awake.

Sorry to hear about your tumors. Are you looking to switch your break thru meds? Have you tried Opana? Opana is supposed to be alot stronger than Oxys.

No I have never tried that. Thank you I will ask him about it. I am not sure if I am wanting to change my breakthrough pain meds or not. Or maybe just add something like Lyrica to all of it. But I guess that's why I am asking.

I also have 3 tumors on my spine but those don't cause any pain. I have had about 8 or so brain surgeries. Fun times, hehe. And I have long blonde hair. My surgeons have learned the number one most important thing during surgery is to only shave as least amount of hair as possible :)

You won't be given "3" pain meds. That is going to far because there is no reason to have "another" break through med. You'd need to stop taking the Oxy IR if you wanted a different break through medication. I'd suggest Opana IR. Oxymorphone is very potent, twice as potent as oxycodone, but you'd want to sniff it for the full effects. You could ask for Lyrica with them but he may not want to change a medication and put you on another the same appointment but I don't know. If you want something for sleeping I'd suggest temazepam or maybe clonazepam or Lyrica.

Thank you K'd.
Somewhere along the way I became addicted to the Oxy. I have never sniffed my oxy IR. I want to but kinda scared. How does it make you feel based on chewing it? I know you are no doctor but one of my tumors blocks my right nasal passage. I have no air flow thru it at all. So would have to use the left side only. Wonder if that would make a negative difference?

I dunno bout that, I am prescribed hydrocodone, codeine, demerol, and fiorinal#3
and could have gotten tramadol and morphine on top of that if I wanted, I have constant daily migraines and alternate my medications with breaks in between so one day on one day off to minimize tolerance and dependence issues.

not as strong as oxy or MS but I want to stick to the prodrugs as long as possible before going full agonist.

Why the fuck are you prescribed both Codeine and Fiorinal #3? That is stupid. I don't see any reason why you'd need to be on Fiorinal with Codeine when your already on Codeine. Why not just up the dose of the codeine and go off the Fiorinal codeine formulation and go to regular Fiorinal? You have a stupid doctor.

the butalbital works for me but you should not take it more then 3 times a week if you plan on takeing it for any significant period of time, the codeine in with it helps, like I said I alternate the drugs so the 60mg codeine and 100mg butalbital in the 2 fiorinal #3 I take per dose feels about the same as 120mg of codeine straight.

My bf has MS Contin for the majority of his pain, Dilaudid for breakthrough, and Celebrex for nerve pain which opiates don't really touch. That's pretty common, I think.

I get 3 pain meds currently, OxyContin 80s, Dilaudid 4s, and Oxy-IR 20s. Well two opiates but two forms of oxycodone (ER and IR) all from the same pain/addictions specialist. It's possible but very uncommon I guess, most people get a ER med and different IR opiate for breakthrough. I find using different opiates, like oxycodone ER/hydromorphone IR alot more effective then the same ER and IR med like oxycodone ER/oxycodone IR. I don't take the Oxy-IR 20s, I get 120 a month and let my dad have them - his neck and back are fucked up - the OxyContin and Dilaudid are plenty for me. I go to pain management again tomorrow, going to try to get the 180 Dilaudid 4's bumped up to 8s ;). My pain doctor is pretty liberal to begin with, and I'm in a wheelchair so I get what I want 99% of the time.
