Going to court with my gf

My girl has to go to court for some abuse charges filed against her ex who would beat her and shit. I want to go and sit wth her while she'll be waiting so she doesn't have to go alone especially having to see this guy again

She's trying to say it'll make her look bad to the judge or w.e and that she should just go alone, which Im saying is b.s. I think it's perfectly normal for a woman to have someone with her when she needs to confront the person who abused her for 5 years

Do you guys think me accompanying her to court will do anything negative to her image?

I don't think that having you there will have a negative impact on her image. If she's been abused she needs all the support she can get.

Yeah if she'd rather you go, then you must go, but of course you'd have to behave yourself 100% as you'd be in court. Some people couldn't do that if they was in the same room as the person who has harmed someone the have loved.

Make sure you go then, thats the only thing you can do to show your support.

The guy I'm close with unfortunately had a little incident occur in April, before I met him, that resulted in him getting smacked with a (drug-related, non-violent) felony. He has probation, counseling, and court appearances every 2 weeks. I don't go to the PO or counseling with him, but I do make it a point to be at his court appearances. The whole thing is very unnerving to him. Before the court appearances, we meet with his social worker and court coordinator - both of who think I am a good influence. I'm also experienced in the court system (worked on the other side) and he appreciates the moral and tangible support I provide. I think your girlfriend will be glad you went, and I also wish her luck with her case.

Yeah, it's always better to have someone there if at least for the company while you waste your day sitting around...if she had a lawyer or w.e with her then I'd leave it, but it's just her, so I figure she could at least have someone chillin in the back for moral support
