Bupe Going over on subbies

Hey, sorry if there is already a thread on this..

What would over dosing on subutex be like? I am currently prescribed 8mg (have reduced a fair bit). How much would u have to take before it's a lethal dose? would it be at all like going over on gear or would it be nastier?

If you are prescribed buprenorphine and have any kind of tolerance to opiates/opioids, an overdose on bupe/suboxone is virtually impossible. The ceiling dose of buprenorphine is 32mg, meaning taking more than that won't increase the effects. Suboxone does not cause quite as much respiratory depression as traditional opiates, either.

Now on the other hand, someone with NO tolerance to opiates, could potentially overdose on suboxone. Also, combining suboxone with other CNS depressants such as benzos, alcohol, barbituates, etc can increase respiratory depression to a lethal level.

If you overdose on suboxone, it is very hard to revive someone because administering nalaxone isn't very effective if someone has taken too much suboxone.

Well there is a ceiling dose with suboxone/buperenorphine. It is around 32mg. So if you take a dose higher than 32mg, you body cannot metabolize all of it so it wouldn't effect you anymore than 32mg. The excess will just be excreted out of your body un-metabolized, I believe.

Although I wouldn't recommend eating 300mg of suboxone to test this theory, though.

As mentioned, it is very hard to overdose so long as you stay away from alcohol and benzos (and similar)
