If they aren't friendly, find a place that is. No good headshop is going to kick someone out for looking at what they are selling with intent to buy.
 
Just act normal and call stuff a waterpipe or a pipe and not a bong/bowl.

Make sure you have an ID like a driver's license in case they check but they might not even card you.

I bought pipes when I was 15 and nobody really cares and I'm not in Canada.

Also shop around, most headshops do overcharge or rape you with prices and you can find the same stuff cheaper in other stores or by searching for it.
 
in Sydney i dont think any one really gives a shit?
half the time they display cone pieces and pipes on the counter. so whats the point of been edgy about it and using cover names lol
 
unless a cop walks into the store i donth think anyone would care about how you refer to their products. and if a cop walks into the store either the owners are in trouble or hes just there to get his own bong. no one gives a fuck. especially not stoners.

And I dont think someone who is agaisnt selling bongs, or even just bongs for the matter would end up in that kind of store:\

just about every gas station and convenience store where i live sells "silk roses" packaged int eh glass tube. Buncha fuckin crack heads.

That's exactly right, I can't imagine some conservative guy who does not do drugs applying for a job in a headshop.
It's madness, I don't know anyone who's been kicked out of a headshop for saying bong.

Yes, that easily. They used to sell this stuff called shake & vac, everyone in the town (seriously everyone) went ape shit for it, so they just started ordering in bulk and selling it like that. (this is what I think anyway, but they've gone from dump branded stuff to under the counter deals of much better stuff.)

But it'll all be illegal soon enough, not like i'm particularly fussed...bad joojoo.

I Have a friend who claims the guy working there got him some DMT once, but this is the same friend who says he can get substance A then never seems to come up with the goods.. so probs bs.

Around here people can be dicks about it but they generally won't kick you out.

If you say something like "Hey, could I please see that bong over there?" They might give you a snotty look, or not, and say something to the effect of "Uhm, You mean that waterpipe?"

"Oh, uh, ya man, sure, whatever." 8)
 
I cant believe you guys have to refer to bongs as water pipes or what not as if they are going to be used for baccy. Thats hilarious.

To the OP i live in canada as well and have never had anyone make me reefer (hehe) to a bong as anything other than a bong. This isnt only in toronto either, maybe your head shop is just inhabited by a lot of under agers and they are being cautious?

Walk in look at what you want buy it. Its just the same as any other store. Im sure they will sense your noobness to the drug scene anyway lol. IF they are cool guys ask em whatever you want, they should be helpful if they run a good business.

you live in liberal cali. You should see how people react on the conservative east coast. It can be ridiculous sometimes. Buying bowls is almost like copping in some states. Its a quick and uncomfortable transaction in some stores.

I never said (or meant) I was worried, just nervous. I don't do particularly well in social situations or in certain types of stores. When I buy drugs...well my drug dealer is also a friend so I'm never concerned.
It's not so much as me being concerned about being in trouble...I'm just awkward and nervous/embarrassed easily around people.
Anyways...I walked down to the shop today in the freezing fucking cold and bought a pipe no problem. The owner even helped me pick one out no problem. No questions asked or anything.
I also asked whether or not they had salvia and she said at the moment they only have it in liquid form...? They're supposed to get a new 'smokeable' shipment in soon she said.
Which brings me to another question I've been meaning to ask.
I'm just in need of a few pointers and information about buying it and such.
What are the sizes I should ask for and do I just walk up and say "HEEEEEEYY CAN I BUY SOME SALVIA"
I'm actually overall quite curious about the drug and google hasn't done me much good when I ask about sizes and where/how to purchase it.
In any case, thanks in advance.
 
Out of curiousity do you have much experience with psychs? Might want to read up on Salvia as i thought it was hellit powerful. Good work getting your pipe. Im from Aus so my advice on salvia would be to grow, havent seen anything other then imported extracts which they got off the net. Yeah not to much help.

Not sure but if your looking for info about salvia go to erowid atleast the experience reports will give you an idea of how to take it. Oh if its anything like DMT (making the comparison cause their both smoked psychedelics) you will want a trip sitter.

You should listen to that advice endymion, Sally can really mess you up if you don't know what you're doing. Definitely do some online research and also talk to the person at your headshop about it.
