Going cold-turkey

In my head
Hi,

I am currently taking 0.8mg of Subutex (Subutex, NOT Suboxone - not that there's a difference in this case) each night. Will I be able to go cold turkey without experiencing any withdrawals?

Many years ago I went through a heroin cold turkey, but it was a mild one as I had only been using it for three days in a row. I succeeded, but I recently tried again, this time with methadone and a lot longer use of the drug (we are talking about months) and as such I had to give in and take my daily methadone dosage.

I am currently in a tapering process, so technically I could continue going down to 0.4/day and 0.2/day (the lowest dose possible - 'Temgesic' they are called)

But I'd rather quit drugs yesterday than today, so if I can go cold turkey now and still not feel wd, I'd prefer that. I also have Clonazepam (rivotril) and Promethazine (Phenergan) to aid me in case I decide to go ct.

I'm looking forward to all your wise words.

Thanks
Thomas

This needs an answer...

It's a choice you gotta make buddy, If I was in your shoes I'd just take the weekend off with the clonaz and phen, you're not going to go through hell, but you'll certainly suffer
With smack I hate weaning off, it prolongs the pain, you go cold turkey you suffer more but it's quicker.
Flush whatever you got left, lay low for a few days and go, it's like taking the drugs, do you split it up into little amounts? No so take ct like you do your drugs...hard and fast..

Good luck man, hopefully someone who's been through the subutex way can offer you more info on what it is you will go though..

Could also help if you said how long you've been taking the subutex as that plays a big role in telling you if you will experience withdrawal. I'm thinking you've been taking the subutex for a while if you've been doing MMT and subutex and thinking you will probably experience withdrawal.

I would also taper as it seems like it would only be a 3 day taper as it would probably feel better than just going cold turkey, but you also have clonazepam which would most likely let you sleep through most of your w/d but like UpdownUP said its your decision.

Hope you can get off the stuff though and good luck.

Continue tapering as much as possible. Subutex is one of those that takes a long time to come off of. Took me a few weeks to feel right after coming off that shit cold turkey. Then again it was 16mgs a day somedays. Once your at an extremely low dose hit your self with clony and give yourself a few days to "adjust". Good luck!

This is my story: I smoked heroin every day for about 6 months. I guess I would use anywhere from 300mg to 1500mg a day (the latter amount was in the end of my abuse). Then I went to a Methadone clinic where they initially gave me 60mgs of Methadone a day. This was increased to 80mg and then I tapered and tapered until I was at 1.25mg/day. This took me about another 6 months. Now recently, about 2 weeks ago they put me on Suboxone 2mg/day but only briefly, for some reason they decided to give me Subutex instead, but obviously I didn't care since I wasn't using on the side. After having been on Subuxone/Subutex for about a week, they began giving me Temgesic 0.4mg. I was allowed to decide my own dosage which ended up being 3x0.4 = 1.2mg Buprenorphine/day. I quickly jumped down to 0.8/day.

So to answer Dinkus123's question, I have been on Buprenorphine for about two weeks, but as I said, have also been on Methadone for 6 months and Heroin for 6 months. They give me 3 Rivotril/day, that is, 6 mg Clonazepam. The Promethazine I bought in a pharmacy because I had some difficulty falling asleep awhile back, but this problem has ceased on it's own.

I do, however, get 2 days worth of medication each time I visit my clinic, which means I have 12mg Rivotril available and a hell of a lot of Temgesic (they don't know how much I take) in case I decide to go cold turkey. Tonight I think I will try and take only 0.4mg Temgesic. I had to sell my Rivotril to make money for food, I know it sounds ridiculous but I was starving and I usually don't take the Rivotril anyway since I don't want to be addicted to benzos.

I hope this extra information answers any questions you might have.
