I used to be on methadone. 80mg a day. I then slowly went to 30mg a day, then quit. I took my last methadone sept. 20 2008. I then detoxed for 5 days and started taking suboxone. I have been taking suboxone since then. It never worked the way it should, I was never out pain like I was when I took methadone. Now that I have a bulged disc, degenerative disc, and a herniated disc suboxone is doing NOTHING. I have a doctors appointment in two days. I am going to try get back on methadone.
My main question is, if I were to be prescribed 20-30mg of methadone a day, would being prescribed lets say 15mg of roxicodone for BTP be of any use? I know people say methadone blocks, and I understand that at a high dose. But, at such a low dose of methadone, roxicodone will have to be effective to some extent for break through pain.
Please give me your thoughts..
I am also worried about what the doctor is going to say, about why I waited so long. And the truth is, my back has just gotten so much worse, and I was doing clerical work, with hardly any activity, now I am doing hard manual labour, and need much more pain relief. I hope to God, he will understand.
P.S. - The ONLY reason I quit taking methadone was the simple fact that I could NEVER get any PURE facts on the effects it had on the body. I did not want to slowly wither away. Most of the negatives I heard, I always in my mind attributed to people not taking it correctly or taking care of themselves. The medication itself probably did not deteriorate your body. I just could not risk it, given that my son was born Sept. 23, 2008
