God is a female

^Want some of what you've had please.

Your earlier idea about hermaphrodite deity fucking self and self-impregnating with creation actually resonates with me (really), I think I might start a religion around it.

May I have status which permits me to live off the fat of the land guilt free please :)

I hereby declare you my emissary on the planet Earth - I'd be cautious about accepting btw ;)

qwe thanks for the response but I am unable to compute at present or maybe ever....however since we're on the subject ;) - universe eternal or big bang - I vote eternal

since other planets have the same potential for life, even the whole "gaia" thing could be a bit chauvinist ;)

duhh everything works like us, its all we know.
a blind person cant tell you that his clay is green, but he can still use it.
even if he is sculpting a a dog

its still his perfect sculpture

maybe thats why were perfectionists because were too limited to be perfect and when someone with a tweaked perception acknowledges it, we become frustrated because we have to be contempt knowing theres a better/different perception of surroundings is momentarily out of reach

i don't believe in god as such but, to me, the idea of describing a 'god' as male or female seems like human arrogance of the first order.

alasdair

Again as I said earlier I believe God is who we want him/her/it to be. Maybe God is a female to me but a male to you or none of the two IMO.

Fuck ,if God were a woman it would sure explain the constant lack of security and feeling of decisiveness on this earth. no...no...listen!!!

the point is....its like the saying in that Tv show. "When you're police commissioner and take the credit for crime going down, you also have to take the blame when it goes back up."

so if god is a woman, and that's supposed to be a feminist/feminine-affirmative thing to think, then you should probably take another look at the world we live in ....ahahaha!!

if god is a woman, i think i've had sex with her.

i'm so proud to father the second messiah.

i don't know how she made the first. must have stolen someone's semen like she stole adam's rib.

Kataphatikos?

Of course, then we run into linguistic and epistemic problems relating to just how we apply the modifier "perfection" to God; how can we determine what is the most "perfect" level/state of a quality when it cannot be quantified? How about the application of binaries (hot/cold?)? Why do we even consider the containing of these traits to be perfection in the first place? Perhaps we can just deem it "infinity" but what the hell does that even mean when it comes to nonspatial attributes?

Most religions have at their centre, a 'Great Mystery', which most adherents are attempting to obtain. But a Mystery is not a question, but rather an invitation to live out the mystery in our lives, and so glimpse at the Divine.

In most cases the God-head is described by an admixture of cataphatic and ataphatic terminologies, allowing religions to neatly sidestep questions like yours, or from an adherent's perspective delineates what can, and cannot be said about their god. Hope that helps.

Isn't God suppose be just pure energy? And the bible says that God created us in his image so if anything he'd be both in one.

I for one don't see the logic in him being so minute as a human. He is everything that ever is and ever was.

I don't think using familiar metaphors and concrete imagery to grasp at something mysterious and abstract is necessarily motivated by arrogance at all. On the contrary, it can show a great degree of humility -- "Break it down and make it simple, that my simple mind may have a chance at understanding something so far beyond my ability to understand."

If what you're implying is that humanity needs to accept that it's entirely insignificant in the big picture, then I don't agree that that's a healthy or even realistic degree of humility for most people, and it's a good thing such a statement isn't really provable.

I don't have a lot more to add that other people haven't already touched on. I'll just say that reading The DaVinci Code, and subsequent readings I've done about recovering the divine feminine in Western spiritual traditions, filled me with a profound sense of completeness that was missing before. The Jewish Renewalist synagogue that my wife and I attend has a rich cannon of prayers and songs for Friday night about the Shekhinah, the feminine presence of the divine.

Sorry if there's a thread on this already but couldn't find one. Probably dusty anyways.

The majority of people believe God is a male but I have come to realize God is most likely a women...(Only a hypothesis). The reason I believe this is because God gave us life and women are the ones who bare children. God is loving and forgiving, has many emotions women are truly intouch with rather than guys. I don't know if my hypothesis is right maybe one day I will find out or not but I want to hear your opinion on this.

but who was the one that had sex with female god,I bet it was that mofo time,he clearly time traveled back to the point before god gave him a birth with rest of universe and raped her.

^ this has me feel i should add that -
Sophia*: a lower Aeon, the syzygy or a Saint - is a Goddess that i recognize; or struck an undeniable gleam in my life, and continues to with my recognition.

You're about 2,000 years late. Valentinian Gnosticism believed in a dyad as the ultimate Source. The female version of Wisdom decided to be androgynous; and self-copulated, creating terror, ignorance, and suffering in the pleroma/spiritual world. Supposedly, she/the Mother created the demiurge, Samuel, who is known as the God of Israel to shape her mistake and to cast it out of the pleroma, and into the material world; resulting in this world. Unfortunately, this demiurge is ignorant (he claims to be the source of all creation, lol), feels fear, and suffers just like the rest of her creations. That is how Valentinianism is connected to Christianity (aside from viewing Jesus Christ as a broadcast from the pleroma, that was meant to guide humanity back to its own Godlike state through gnosis/enlightenment), and is probably a pretty big reason why they were wiped out, and would only be known through polemic attacks from St. Ireneaus in 180CE, had the Nag Hammadi Library not been buried by a monastic monk in Egypt in 362 after Constantine made all heretical literature illegal in the Holy Roman Empire, and ordered all "Gnostic" scriptures to be burned. Luckily, there was a monk that was intelligent enough to know that one day, civilization would cast off it's hatred of all things it doesn't understand.

Anyway, I know of all this tripe because it is a research paper focus of mine, not because I believe any of it, lol.

^Fucking awesome find! +111111111111 I have never seen that before... and after studying Valentinianism, it makes a lot of sense. BTW, I certainly do not consider Valentinianism tripe, it is probably the most advanced, and beautiful religion/school of thought of its time. Too bad Christianity didn't follow Valentinus (imagine if he actually landed the Bishop gig)...

First of all read the old testament.

And who says God has emotions that guys are not in touch with? Why would God need emotions?

No offense but you sound like a sexist.

If we're to have a god, why would it be so small as to be gendered...or anthropomorphized...or anything resembling a sentient terrestrial...or anything we could comprehend in the slightest?
