My apologies in advance if this is better suited to a different location! Feel free to move it wherever it belongs...

Well recently I broke a glass piece and had gotten a shard stuck in my ring finger right next to the furthest joint (next to the nail but on the other side of my finger). After picking at it for a few hours I eventually got all of the glass out- or so I thought. After the skin healed I started noticing some pain when I use the finger and it's definitely swollen around my knuckle and has been for almost 2 weeks now.

Problem is now there's no hole to push what ever is left out O: I can't even tell where it is at this point, it just hurts pretty bad when I use it. As a musician this reallyyyy bugs me. Does anybody have any suggestions or anything as to what to do and/or if the swelling will ever go back down on it's own so I don't have to have some surgery I certainly couldn't afford??

Thanks in advance for any replies, please help me out!

It could be bacteria which entered your skin causing the swelling, if this is the case it will go down on its own. If however you have a piece of glass inside of you, your going to have to have it removed (sooner the better before any further damage can occur with it moving etc).

If you can't afford treatment you could probably do it yourself with a sharp blade, pair of tweezers? You could also use a pin or needle and gently scrape the area which will eventually open up the entry wound - make the entry wound a bit bigger and remove what you can. (Go slowly, keep the area and whatever your using clean, better to make a small deep cut than having to cut yourself a few times).

Not sure if this may help?

Your body will push the glass out over time. As long as it's not infected you should be fine.

I have some glass and shrapnel along my right side and every once in a while some of it will fall out and surprise me. You don't need to waste your money or anyone else's going to the ER for it...

If it don't hurt or cause you any pain or discomfort, I would worry about it. I've got a tiny bit of brick wall in my thumb that been there for years.

Thanks for all the replies!

The swelling's gone down, and the pain's gone except for random pings here and there so I'ma just let it be. Seems like this time my body'll take care of itself. I was worried for a minute lol

one time when I was little my best friend stepped on a piece of glass in his driveway, and his dad took one of those plastic tubs filled with water and soaked his foot until it was red and overflowing down the driveway smacking him.

I remember because I had the flu and I ate pop rocks. I hate them now. I think I understand why now. Association. I posted that in the objects u hate thread. Lol.

Hope yer okay tho homie!
