Glass pipes. Really worth it?

man u would think a board full of stoners would be more likely to agree to disagree but i guess not.

while im on the opposite side than you d_m, both of my old roomates prefer their $80 non diffused bongs over my sovereignty 8arm so i can understand. they like getting that "hit" in their chest when they inhale. that irritation is almost like the cold palms i get when i start coming up on a roll, you feel like it hits u and thats what u like to feel to get high.

but for others, including me, that's not a feeling i like; especially when i start choking immediately afterward and are grabbing for albuterol.

but to say the opposite is being a pussy, thats just ignorant really. like i said, people value different things. some value more smoking, others value a cleaner smoking experience; doesn't mean either is wrong or should result in an online name calling and intelligence insulting contest.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't of said shit about being pussy. I didn't really mean it in an offensive way so much as a light ribbing fashion but I suppose it doesn't really translate into text that well.

In my circile of friends you will cop a bit of shit for the smallest thing like not finishing your bong or choking on a small sized hit and I guess obviously a lot of peoples smoking circles are different. Its not as much a macho thing (I suppose it is slightly) as an excuse to give eachother a bit of lighthearted shit and thats all I really meant by it.

This thread has been sort of derailed and I definately played a role in that so I am going to stop the back and forth and let it get it back on topic.

I wouldn't mind a flame free criticism of these points I made. They have been described as "comical at best" and I really would like to know from anybody who agrees with that comment (or the person who made it) why that would be the case? I know not everybody agrees with my opinion but I would like some feedback on exactly why my opinions would be seen as comical.

Anyway I am done bickering so lets just let the discussion continue on.

lol! for a start!:D:D this is a bitch fest! is there a drout on or sumtn? well i prefere my glass angle (with no gause, just a bit of bud!) BUT! I have this three piece chamber pipe, (metal obviously!) that you put a bit of bud in for a few day/ weeks, (depens on how much you smoke,lol!) but wen u smoke dat bud....SWEET! So in a nutshel, i cnt make me mind, but i have te say, meteal DOES make ur hit taste like shit i think its worth it for brown bud tho!!!:D:D:D

ONLY time a screen should be necesary is with a new pipe and shake. if your breaking down buds, yeah stick a peice of bud or a stem in the hole and youll be good.

I always smoke with a screen. Is that weird? Im more paranoid about getting ash/shit in my mouth then tasting "no metal".

I dont notice it effecting the taste that much.

Of course by screen I mean the little screen found in all water faucets after you take them apart.

If you have a double chambered pipe its kinda hard to get shit in your mouth, but my old double chambered one, it was easy for stuff to get in your mouth, but my new pipe it isn't because it is shaped differently.

My old pipe had a bigger opening from the chamber of the pipe to the stem, but it didn't get clogged at all, but my new one has a smaller openening and gets clogged with resin alot.

Max I'd go for a bowl is like $45-$50. Any higher and I'm buying a bong, not a bowl.

Eh, I don't so much agree with that. I've ripped a few really nice custom dry bowls in the 120-220 dollar range that I'm not sure I would say were a waste, and I certainly wouldn't call the owners suckers.

I would no doubt agree that a really nice 60 dollar dry-bowl hits about the same as a more pricy one. But I think there is something to be said about a beautiful hand-blown piece that you save money for months on end to get, and take 3 hours to pick out with all your buddies. Its something you only take out from time to time, always keep it nice and clean, use it to show off to stoner chicks , ect, ect.

I'm a little high at the moment, but I suppose my point is just that for me, there is more to a piece than just how it hits.

i use glass screens w/ my bongs . . best of both worlds.

i only read the first post. I hate pipes of all kinds. Takes to long to get enough smoke. And the smoke sucks at that. Id take a 20$ plastic bong over a glass pipe. Save 150-200 for a bong. You wont look at a pipe again. Or if your bent on getting a pipe drop 70-100 for a glass bubbler. Atleast then you might be able to take enough smoke to catch a buzz.

Dont use screens(especially glass ones) in glass pieces. Youll only add drag to your hit for no benefit. If ash and a dirty bong or what not bothers you get an ash catcher but your bong will always be dirty aslong as its used so... *shrugs
