Girl, 15, dies after weekend rave at L.A. Coliseum

the parents said they knew in the article i think

Kimberly Keith, a family friend, said Sasha's loved ones are still trying to figure out what happened. Although they knew Sasha was going to her first rave, Keith said, drug use was "not her character."

She did not follow SIMPLE RULES....

What are the simple rules?

I've never taken MDMA/ecstasy so I do not know what the high is like or what it does to you. Does it give you bad cotton mouth like herb does or dehydrate you some like amphetamines and stimulants do?

I've heard of people somehow drinking lots of water like gallons of it in a very short period of time while on ecstasy, why would someone want to do that?

I have used other drugs but I would always look up info on erowid, the lycaeum, and hyperreal.

You wont let kids under 21 into bars but you let 15 year olds into the biggest party in america.

That sounds like a reason to lower the drinking age, not prohibit kids from partying.

I was drinking booze at 15 and smoking herb then too.

My parents knew I was drinking and smoking then but I was not drinking or smoking nearly as much or as often as I did in college and they were not cool with my use as a teenager but I kept it on the DL and they said how if I or one of my friends was drinking never to drive drunk or get into their car if they were bombed/had been drinking and to call them, call a cab, or get a ride with someone else, and I knew if I got caught with herb that my ass would be the one in trouble.

Kids are going to use drugs as teens but hopefully they'll have access on how to safely use those drugs and will know what not to do while using them like I remember having friends in HS who had never tripped on acid or shrooms and they thought you could drive on them like some people do after smoking herb!

Some people can drive fine on LSD or shrooms. There are a certain percentage of psychedelic users who don't get 'visuals' at all.

I don't think it's good to drive on psychedelics or even after a few beers. People are gonna do it though.

I have friends who did drive a very short distance while on shrooms or acid but they were either coming down with minor visuals or took a very low dose.

A few beers will introduce a delay into your visual perception as well as delay reaction time and mess with motor coordination. Psychedelics, most of the time and at most points during the experience, don't do that. If you don't have visuals interfering with you, there's nothing to stop one from driving safely on a psychedelic. It'd be like driving on amphetamine.

There are many people, I dunno what percentage it is, that don't get ANY visuals besides maybe color brightening from full 250ug doses of LSD. They just get the psychedelic thought patterns and have altered perception of other senses.

^ I disagree.
The altered perception and psychedelic thought patterns made my friend, driving on the freeway on LSD, believe that all those cars in the rearview mirror were following him. He took evasive action. Luckily no one was hurt.
Psychedelics can stop one from driving safely without any visuals being present.

Saying that driving on powerful psych's such as LSD is a very irresponsible comment. Regardless of "visuals" driving on said substances can be very dangerous. Just the though processes involved could make for a terrible outcome. Do not drive on psychs.

"I think it's tragic when a 15-year-old girl dies in this way as a result of a public policy that put her at risk," Johnston said. "Can you imagine explaining that to her parents?"
and that policy is the illegality of drugs and deliberate misinformation. it wouldn't have happened if the government gave out harm reduction information instead of just using scare tactics.

and the writers of the article have gotten it wrong once again....

And these:

It shouldn't be the government, though. The only thing the government should do is suspend the drug laws and make sure the organizers are providing adequate access to emergency medical care (like they do in public marathons and etc).

Doctors said "her sodium, electrolytes were so low that when she started replacing them so quickly [with cold water], ecstasy messes up your body's ability to process that, so it threw her body out of whack," said Keith.

Sasha passed out, hitting her head on the floor. The friend who was with her tried to shield her body but told her family that the venue was so crowded, people stepped on them.

The media needs to learn the difference between a drug overdose and a drug related death. Taking too much ecstacy doesnt seem to be the cause of death here. This couldve been prevented if she had taken necessary precaution. This is the exact same thing that happened a decade ago which spawned the "one ecstacy pill killed my daughter" campaign. They pass sensationalized stories like these off as drug education by refusing to teach factual harm reduction methods which would prevent these things from happening in the first place.

So what is the press trying to say? If she was a few months older, she would not have died from ecstacy?
