Gibberings episode CXCVI -- I'm on my cycle, who wants a backie?

^eesh mate, stomach bug? :\ I'm preeeetty sure there's a McDo at Paddington but don't quote me on that. Hope you feel better soon! :(

I have too many friends that buy pets when there are so many that need adoption.

That's something where try as hard as I might, I simply cannot understand the rationale behind it. I adopted my guinea pig and I'm so, so happy I did.

Neither food nor codeine have passed the lips since Thursday - off on my travels now: if Paddington doesn't have a trading Maccy Ds / boots I'll be fucking bereft / shit myself 8(

I have been ill for 4 days straight! Feeling a bit brighter but GAH!!!!! Hope you're feeling better soon. I am burning up!!!

I really don't think I'd ever purchase a pet. Like I said last one was when I first came to this country. Sid Vicious was an amazing dog but I would never buy another pet again. Ronnie and Reggie ( the rats ) were purchased as were my other rats Izzy and Rosie ( isabella rossellini) and Lenny and Carl. I cannot own another rat as they die far too quickly. It breaks my heart too easily.

At least I know what I need to do to sort myself out. Get better soon Sadie.

Sat here watching videos of the Born and Bred festival thinking I was stupid to be convinced to go to Field Day round the corner instead yesterday. Fucking meatheads and their Caribou :p. The lights in the bugged out tent were nice though, I'll give them that.

Adopting is always good and probably the way I'd go now except for the weirder creatures we tend to acquire and even then only cos there are surprisingly few spiders and snakes needing rehomed. Will be adopting a bearded dragon later this month, would be cool to raise one from a baby but even cooler to give one another chance and chill out with it and be all 'see? life is gooood' and all that.

Understandable. Luckily guineas live up to 10 years so it's okay - although I'll still be devastated when his time comes :(
My fiancé and I are planning to adopt a corgi some time soon, which I'm seriously psyched about haha.

And feel better soon the both of you!!

Gaaaaaaaaaaah. snolly I could never get within a mile of your flat :!
(good to see you again btw!)

Nice one SHM and Pagey . It's no stomach bug, although I wouldnt rule it out - I've just been neglecting to keep on top of daily routines whilst on stims.

Right, I'm off.

Spiders no, I have a massive phobia with them. Snakes YASSSSSS! I love snakes. As far as Bearded dragons go I find them much like cats, some take to you and some are simply stroppy wee gits! You still love them all the same though!

I get that a lot :D Is a pain having people over cos the spare room houses four frogs and a massive snake with more to come when we're done rearranging the house and people are like 'uhh'. Good to be around again tho, hope all is well <3 Got hell of spare time at work so here I am

edit @ Sadie: Snakes are awesome and I want a thousand of em :D Ever had one? I'm cool with tarantulas if they're chill, but not house spiders. Only met one bearded dragon, he was cool tho so hopefully I get a nice one and not a stroppy wee git, tho it'd be just my luck

Morning all ;) I had a great time at Strawberry Fair yesterday although it was a bit rammed and I had to deal with too many hippies ;)

Caught up with some special old friends, as I may have mentioned she is very ill and it's turned out to be the worst diagnosis.

I just spent most of the night researching the medical use of Cannabis and CBD oil, a fascinating subject for lots of reasons. She is going to give it a go rather then accept the standard medical treatment, I don't blame her having seen other go through it and this treatment has a great deal more credibility than I had realised....but it remains illegal even in this medical form. Our world is truly fuked up :\

I'm going to force some breakfast down before I go off he idea

Can't win with the stuff. Feel fantastic now i've dropped it though. I think people underestimate how addictive it can be. People think of alcohol addicts as alcoholics waking up every morning to a glass of gin. But I think all people who enjoy a bottle of wine in evenings, or a glass of whiskey before bed... or even a drink every few days...are addicted but don't like to acknowledge it.

It depends on your definition of addiction, surely? And whether you necessarily see addiction as a negative thing. What you are describing as addiction, I.e a drink every few days, others might describe as habitual use.

To me, and yes I use addiction to describe a perceived negative as this seems to fall in with the consensual definition, addiction only describes behaviour if it is problematic in some way, physically pr psychologically, when given up. So if a drinker suffers no problems on cessation, that person is not an alcoholic. They are an habitual user of alcohol.

Agreed SHM, we be creatures of habit. By Raas' definition we're addicted to everything.

Addiction is when things become problematic to your self and loved ones when chemicals aren't even present.

I'm drawing from my own experience really. 9 days and I haven't had a drink, but it crosses my mind each night how nice it would be to settle down to a nice bottle of wine. I find it very psychologically addictive. Sure there's a grey area where people discern it as a "habit" or "addiction".

what pisses me off is the type of drunk who paints the pavements with purple kebab vomit every night of the weekend and anyone else who enjoys a different drug now and again is a 'fucking junkie'.

nation of pissheads.

yes alcohol can make people act like cunts. Some people are just cunts by nature though.

A cunt by nature, drinking a lot of booze is always a recipe for disaster. Some people can drink an awful lot and not be a cunt. But it will get you in some way or other: being overly emotional/saying idiotic things etc

At first glance it looks like an abused/starved animal. So I see the sense in NSFW tags as these pages are viewable by thousands of people typing shite into google. Second glance the doggy might just be wet??

Yeah, it's a pissed off looking wet dog. Hardly worthy of my first ever mod edited post in almost a decade of using the site.

Oh Well. Ho Hum.
