The thing is, there are precisely two ways to get rid of drug cravings. Either take more, or wait till the cravings go away of their own accord (although this is not recommended for certain drugs -- mainly benzos, barbiturates, alcohol and certain stimulants -- where sudden discontinuation can be detrimental to health). If you use method (1) you can usually kid yourself that this time, you'll manage a nice taper back to normal; which will last about five minutes once you get that first dose down yourself, and before you know it you'll have run out and be craving again.
Opiate withdrawal is bad but it won't actually kill you -- although you might not think, at the time, that that is an advantage.
And Evey -- don't try heroin.
Yeah. I know precisely what you mean. This whole polydrug abuse thing is an utter bitch .....I'm becoming oh so familiar with cravings recently - jumping off Smack, benzo's AND stimulants meant 24/7 thoughts of use - 'Opi WD anxiety, take a benz... wait, fuck. Man, I'm tired, stims would help... fuck yeah, I don't use them anymore. Etc etc'.
Indeed. Anyway, you've already been addicted to codeine. That works on the same receptors.Apart from the time I was given diamorphine during labour n loved it, I've no wish to try H as I know I'd love it too much n would be addicted.

Still. my plan is simply to put the memory of this most recent comedown far enough behind me for it not to influence the next one, whenever that will be.Indeed. Anyway, you've already been addicted to codeine. That works on the same receptors.
The simple fact is, the human body uses the same system for pain regulation and reward. Any God that could deliberately design that would be a sadist. It's a bigger fuck-up than balls on the outside .....It's weird but having known what its like to be given opiates for a legitimate medical reason and go on to develop dependence issues I sometime s feel somewhat guilty when pushing that plunger down on a syringe full of morphine into someone's cannula and thinking "am I helping you here or setting up you up for a world of problems in the future?"
