Gibberings Episode CCIV - A New Hope

The thing is, there are precisely two ways to get rid of drug cravings. Either take more, or wait till the cravings go away of their own accord (although this is not recommended for certain drugs -- mainly benzos, barbiturates, alcohol and certain stimulants -- where sudden discontinuation can be detrimental to health). If you use method (1) you can usually kid yourself that this time, you'll manage a nice taper back to normal; which will last about five minutes once you get that first dose down yourself, and before you know it you'll have run out and be craving again.

Opiate withdrawal is bad but it won't actually kill you -- although you might not think, at the time, that that is an advantage.

And Evey -- don't try heroin.

Of course I can, was taking the mick. Ya need to get used to my sense of humour I'm a sarcky bugger n like to take the mick of myself n make light of a situation.

Still I want it n really looking fwd to Wednesday now. Lordy I'm annoyed I didn't order enough over Christmas n now have to wait bloody ages for more:)

This week is dragging it feels ages since I had some.

I'm becoming oh so familiar with cravings recently - jumping off Smack, benzo's AND stimulants meant 24/7 thoughts of use - 'Opi WD anxiety, take a benz... wait, fuck. Man, I'm tired, stims would help... fuck yeah, I don't use them anymore. Etc etc'.

Doesn't exactly make binging on unresearched stimulants at every available opportunity any less risky though.
You know as well as I do how insidiously addictive stims are, without the WD profile it's easy to convince oneself of safety.

Apart from the time I was given diamorphine during labour n loved it, I've no wish to try H as I know I'd love it too much n would be addicted. Besides I love 3fm too much at mo :)

Yeah. I know precisely what you mean. This whole polydrug abuse thing is an utter bitch .....

Still. my plan is simply to put the memory of this most recent comedown far enough behind me for it not to influence the next one, whenever that will be.

Indeed. Anyway, you've already been addicted to codeine. That works on the same receptors.

Yea exactly. I remember when I first took two zapain (so 60mg codeine) it giving me the same feeling that I had when I'd been given diamorphine during labour. Made it instantly want more from that moment.

It's weird but having known what its like to be given opiates for a legitimate medical reason and go on to develop dependence issues I sometime s feel somewhat guilty when pushing that plunger down on a syringe full of morphine into someone's cannula and thinking "am I helping you here or setting up you up for a world of problems in the future?"

Statically though the vast, vast majority of people who are given medicinal opiates don't go on to be addicted and pain has to be controlled somehow I suppose. Plus Entanox is next to useless IMHO...

At least you consider your actions G, and from a true Junkie bumfuck: don't ever hold yourself as a medical guardian angel responsible, we were fucked long before a medical analgesic was injected.
These days I'd have to snap my spine for a Coco prescription, once a Junkie always a Junkie is true and remarkably so once it's on your med. records.
Naproxen for broken bones these days... :!

The simple fact is, the human body uses the same system for pain regulation and reward. Any God that could deliberately design that would be a sadist. It's a bigger fuck-up than balls on the outside .....
