Gibberings episode 0x000000c7(?) -- Party like it's 199!

But of course <3

I'm just eeking out the last 20 minutes at work before having to collect my sister from Kings X. She's not been to London before and I think it's a bit out of her confort zone.

That sounds lovely, how special :) I always wished I'd have a sister..

You are never getting to drive my car. :!

Well, my truck is fleet, and we pay a grand a month for it, so when it needed work they guy was like "I've got this CRV for you". We told him where it was going, and what would probably happen and he was okay (not really delighted mind) with it, he even paid for all my damages, because we told him it would happen:)

Compared to the Tacoma (boat on wheels) the CRV is stable as fuck on the road, and far fewer blind spots.

Bet not..it's all girl inside, did you notice the cup holders / hand bag space / baby safety stuff 8) I insist that the family comes along on on those travels...

Ok - Jude, believe it or not you have reassured me that I'm going to like driving this machine, thank you <3

;)

Rough as fuck this morning.
Stupid drugs test looming on the horizon so my options are Eph, Geeb & Vino.
All three last night, loud music and hardly any sleep.

Full day in work and I’m a burst fucking baw :|

Morning FG & all...

That sounds like a great idea FG... get you out the house & get a little cash in as well as easing yourself back into work. Hopefully it'll lead to more opportunities down the road.

I'm currently looking for a job to ease myself back into work as well. Probably just something part-time for now, although if I come across any decent full time jobs I might just go for that.

Now, if only I didn't spend so much time procrastinating. 8)

Hey whats crackin'! Long time no speak.

What kinda job you looking for Chatative? The idea of a job always seems good after a lengthy time off, but if you start doing something you absolutely despise you will be in a worse place than you originally were. Nothing can suck the life outta you like a utterly mundane office job.

Hey, it has been a while! :)

I'm not entirely sure what I am looking for... I was just thinking along the lines of that mundane office job. ;)

Seriously though, I have done painting & decorating in the past as an interim job, which was alright but it's never going to get me anywhere so I don't want to go down that route again even if it was short term. That's why I am thinking an office job of some description would be the best route to go opportunity wise. Problem is I'm not really clued up about what office jobs are up for grabs so I'm not sure what to search for. I was thinking of going to a recruitment agency to help me source something.

Im sure i've only heard bad things about recruitment agencies. Fucked it i can remember, but im certain multiple have said to stay away.

May i suggest a job as a chef? I hadnt worked for 6 months or so and was in a real rut, but since becoming one things are great! If you start with someone like stonegate or weatherspoons (sort of the beginning platforms for most chefs) no experience is required and the sort of food they make doesnt require a lot of technical ability. Some weeks are a savage 65 hour work load, but when its busy the time absolutely flies by.

EDIT - Actually scratch that; i have only heard bad things about weatherspoons and how they treat their workers. If you work for similar to sort of companies though its a really decent job to have :)

Working as a chef does seem an intriguing idea!

I'm not sure how suited I'd be to it although I am a reasonable cook. One thing that would put me off would be the hours... I'd imagine evenings and weekends would be be par for the course?

How long have you been a chef now? :)

The thing is for me, I have a law degree so I know it's a good basis for getting a job even if I don't want to practice law. Having been unemployed for years though I think the chances of me getting any graduate positions would be slim. The most important thing is to get some experience to lead to other opportunities. The way I see it I'm not trying to land the perfect job this year... just get out there.

It really depends what your using them for. Getting agency work through them isn't the best, because agency work isn't the best full stop. However, getting some temporary positions in offices can help you transition in permanent roles.

If you're using recruitment agencies to find permanent positions that's quite different. They come to you with jobs which can make searching a bit easier, plus they can help you prepare for interviews and negotiate if job offers are made. Personally i've found recruiters aren't really interesting in you unless you've got relevant experience that's going to make you easy to hire, but you can sign up for the mailings to get news about jobs.

Yeah say goodbye to your evenings and weekends if you decide to go for that haha. We usually get 2 days off a week (sometimes 1, sometimes 3), but as the weekend is the busiest time they need all the chefs in there at once. Usually one person is allowed off, so they try to rotate it. The hours seem really daunting at first, but the time absolutely flies by. During a busy service 3 or 4 hours can pass in a instant. Plus its a treat when your paycheck comes in at the end of month :D

I think one of the most crucial things to it, is having good fellow chefs in the kitchen with you. Not just good cooks, but good people as well as some days you will be spending 14 hours with them. Ive been working as one for 4 months now and am absolutely loving it! Although if you get stressed easily then this job may not be for you. My boss was saying only 1 in 10 people can actually do this as a career as at times during a busy service it is absolutely none stop. Chefs do love their droogz though, so you will be among fellow degenerates ;)

Yeah ive seen many people in the same position as you, but at least the degree will show you have a certain level of inteligence regardless what job your going for. They always say its so much easier to find a job once you already had one. Apparently employers are a bit aprehensive when a CV has a large gap in it, but i found just saying your were travelling seems to do that job :)

Fencing? Be sure to be sabre come the morning.

And congrats. You deserve the break.

Ah yeah, i see where your coming from. Guess it just depends on what exactly you are looking for. One thing that was hammered into me by numerous people was how much easier it is to find a job once you have one - so i guess in this regard they would be a huge help.

I've just spent a solid 8 hours staring at a computerscreen going through a year's worth of reports and contracts; would kill for a job were no computers are involved atm :)

Nice one FG...

But you're right, it could be a ballache of a job. I was a farmhand in a past life and the times I've spent standing on a trailer with a massive speed comedown swinging a hefty sledgehammer to drive the posts into rock hard ground doesn't bear thinking about. Better hope the fucker's got a mechanical post driver...

Good luck :)

PS. If you do end up wielding a sledgehammer, remember it's not all about brute strength, it's technique and accuracy. Put the power into the dowstroke and make sure you don't miss cos you'll either smash yer shins or dislocate your shoulder...
