Fuck off :D....that was straight from the **insert manufacturer name' support line, although I did find a genuine copy of Win95 in the loft the other day.

My money is on the need for chipset drivers or similar, I assume your running Win 7 64bit, try here
 
Its an ASrock 990FX extreme3, Just been on their site and they have a USB 3.0 card, download. Just downloaded and extracted the zip now, seems to be the controllers only.

Edit-Just restarted, installed USB 3.0 utility, had pop up which said, Host USB drivers not found.

Edit-Cheers Allein, installed and restarted. No luck. I must of not connected it to the MOBO, that's the only thing I can think off. Ill let you know, and thanks for both your help. Ha I used to work in tech support, but to be good at that for Think (IBM), diagnosing seemed a lot easier. Spose Its not built with all different drivers etc, but like you said Allien, windows would have the driver. So all I can think is that Its wired wrong. Peace.

This may be worth a shot, such problems can be a complete pain in the fukin arse.

The fact it is saying is doesnt have the drivers suggests it can see the hardware.

Searching on that Motherboard and USB problem shows you are not alone http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2066254/usb-ports-working-asrock-990-extreme9.html

I'd be up till 3am until the feker did as it was told, I sus[ect some further internet rummaging and some dedicated buggering about would get them up and running, go forth and face your foe ;)
 
What's more important than all this nonsense is that I'm going insane with the noise of the fans on my computer. I need to open it up and figure out which ones are the culprits.

In other news, it's pishing down here. And my mum & my nephew are coming to visit this weekend.

Anything to change the subject of USB3. ;)
 
FTR, there is noting illegal about tools that attempt to compromise networks, security companies use them everyday to carry out penetration testing, most are developed for that purpose.

Breaking into someone else's network and stealing their service on the other hand is theft of service plain and simple, ahh for they days of using next doors unprotected wireless for all my torrent downloads.

Ona completly legal note I've been looking at an android app WiFi Map, it shows you all the free WiFi in your location and some dumb fekers enter their home router passwords, you should be able to find some free data within walking distance in most towns these days.

I had to remove one on a hard drive last week, I tried blowing it out with an air can and giving it a bit of WD40 but it still sounded dreadful, now the machine stops on reboot complaining about the missing fan and needing F1 pressing and there is no way to prevent it, I suspect resistor across the power input would do the trick but I think I'll live with the F1 thing.

I was quite enjoying the almost hopeless task of trying to diagnose a random PC fault with the barest of information, I must get at lest a couple of calls from family or friends like that a week, most end up in a visit because it's quicker in the long run. I've been building, fixing and messing with PCs since you could buy one but more often than not an internet search will provide the answer to anything that isnt obvious and for Apple products I have a hammer and a carrier bag ;)

Yeah I had a gander at that. Yeah man thanks for the help. This foe is gunna get faced. But theres only so much you can try in a night. Deffo getting a PCI USB adapter. I went into the uefi and couldn't see anything about ports. What are the risks in doing a bios update?

I have a 3 port USB2 card in the 'graveyard', if you want it I can stick it in a jiffy bag tomorrow. It's this one. It's no use to me, just gathering dust in a drawer of bits.

Going Red Today or tomorrow. A nice shade of Vivid RED. Been ages since I've gone red. Yeah, Deep pink, Purple but nah, Gonna dye my hair a lovely vibrant shade of red. Hopefully it turns out as stunning as promised. =D
 
Good shit, got some red dye myself but not got round to it yet, not sure if I want to keep my natural colour, it's nowt special but I've had dyed hair so long my dad just assumed it was a new dye when I went to visit last
