Went to do the weekly shop, came home with a Garter snake and a Bearded Dragon. Snake is for her, is the first one she ever had apparently, way back when she was six. As for the dragon, I've wanted one for ages, saw him in our usual pet shop and fell in love. He needed rehoming, is eight years old and hasn't been entirely well looked after. We had a big enough tank and the requisite UV bulbs and all that and he was £15, just to cover costs of heat and food so now he's called Kiwi and he's all mine <3 So fucking cute and unexpectedly lively for his age and history. Snake is cool too I guess, bit tiny and fast for me at the moment!

Really happy now, been wanting something to keep me company that I can just chill with during the day and he's awesome =D

edit: he keeps licking the sofa tho, not sure what that's about but he seems happy!

koneko: I used to have a lizard and fed it crickets, needless to say some of them escaped into the house somehow and for months on end could hear them chirping behind the walls, it was maddening!

No sofa pics yet (tis pleather, cheapo thing we got cos we needed both a sofa and a sofa bed quickly) but we do have an incredibly charming one of Kiwi!

He falls asleep when you stroke the back of his head he's the best thing everrrr <3 No baby mice (got some little rats in the freezer tho and apparently the snake will eat fish and earthworms and all sorts which I didn't know!) but we do have locusts and we need salad for him which I forgot to go pick up so off I trot!

@Ceres, crickets are fucking awful for that, we have locusts instead but I do remember a friend buying a bag of roughly one thousand locusts and crickets and then figuring out the best way to go about the whole operation was to open the bag fully there and then in the middle of her living room. Was biblical.

I knooooow! He's made me so happy, everyone at the pet shop was gutted to see him go. Everyone should have one.
 
That's a pretty cool toy pet Snolly. He does look a laugh. Not sure about the locusts, you sure they don't eat Winalot or something?
 
if you get peckish you can always grill some spare locusts

that one looks a lot more fun than my tokay gecko, which spent most of its time hiding under a piece of bark and it did NOT like being handled, was quite vicious.

It would make stuff a lot easier, damn locusts get everywhere.

Tokay geckos are evil, we had two for a while and they were vicious as all get out. Really pretty though <3 Want some day geckos but the snake now lives in the tank that was reserved for those.

edit: he's quite small for an adult as they reckon he was neglected pretty badly. his body is just a bit bigger than my hand, and I've got really small hands. He's got an impressively long tail though, maybe a foot and a bit at a glance.
 
Snolly, you should start a wee Kiwi thread. I expect daily updates. Morning, noon and night. Such a wee gem.
 
I hope Kiwi has a good snooze, Snolls, or is up all night crying like a baby :D either way, mum!!!
