I lived with a lot of programmers for a year or so and there's only two that I don't wish a swift death on. Seems like it's Reddit/Awful old memes first, work second. I kicked one out of the house for pissing in my garden and being really racist at the top of his voice. I'd say that's just a character trait but the sheer amount of times I found 'Hitler Rules' on the fridge just makes me think none of them shoud be allowed on the internet for anything other than work purposes.

I'd prefer the tweed jackets and speccy weirdos myself One of them had an app that tracked the periods of myself and girlthing and any other woman that came into the house (there was one. She visited three times.).

edit: the geeky jokes were fun though. And convincing them for the first month or so that lesbians don't actually have periods because their body realises they're gay and shuts the whole thing down to conserve energy.

Having been around the technology industry for 25 years, I find the idea of looking down your nose at programmers so very quaint and 90's.

Yep! I was impressed how many believed it, but they were mostly all scared of women and when they asked why there were tampons in the bathroom I told them they were for our MtF housemate. Which she played along with, happily, whilst privately mocking me going 'HA! You have to bleed out your fanny and I don't!'.

The period thing though, yeah that was weird. Though occasionally helpful.

Yeppy do. Was kinda weird because I met her before she came out and was sat in the bar with me woman and her going 'how is he prettier than us?!'

We were told he had some hormonal problem but it wasn't til we were about to move in that he emailed us housemates informing us not to be freaked out when he pranced into our house as a she. None of us were, which was nice, especially considering I'd been a bit blah about being the only woman in the house up til that point and then I was like 'yaaaaaay more of us!'. Couple of us were gay or bisexual anyway so I think it was relatively easier for her and I got a few 'new experiences' out of it

& I presume one of the more rigorous degrees as opposed to Art History or something similar
