Thats when my new credit card comes in, seeing as I lost mines under the influence last night.

5 days with no credit card is probably what I need anyways, plan on downloading a few books from vault.bz and hibernating for the week.

Agreed. To my continued shame i remember walking past a tramp like man lying face down on the middle of the pavement on oxford road manchester (an extremely busy road). I believe he was quite possibly dead. Everyone just walked on by, including myself. Now, when i see people in a state like that (just yesterday) i at least stop to try to gauge if they are OK. I didnt have that heart or empathy before. You cant possibly have enough heart and empathy for everyone you pass by in a city though eh.

People that have had it piss easy just have no understanding what so ever of what difficulties other people may be going through. :|

Nothing better than the smell of old books, maybe it's just me but their is something kind of "romantic" about a bookshelf filled with bent spine books.

The local library is my 2nd home, 20p coffee with nice chairs & more books than I could read in my life </3

Yeah I agree you can't help everyone but to be concerned for anyone in a seriously bad places don't cost you anything.

I'm no hippy but I always try to get the big issue or tip buskers etc.

When you experienced being on the other side of society you never forget it.

If people gave more throught to others the world would be a better place.

A good book at a comfy chair at the library is a pleasure to behold on a Saturday afternoon( Well if Chelsea are not playing).

I think it was Nassim Taleb who quoted Umberto Eco when he said you can judge a man, not by the books he has read, but by the unread ones on his shelf.
I would estimate in physical form I have like 400 books, a lot of them in storage
on laptop blimey must have thousands.

Far prefer reading to the latest newfangled HBO rubbish they feed you on TV.

The sun feels stronger today than it has done for several Manchester summers. There's a foreign intensity/burn to it. Just had a nice hour or so lobstering myself listening to some Bob Dylan tunes.

New books are ridiculously expensive. My mind wanders too much to concentrate on books these days. A single word or sentence can set my mind off on a whole different thought stream, so that I rarely get through more than a page a night. :o For that reason I love audio books, you have to keep up. I haven't read a complete book for several years but have listened to dozens of audio books. The best ones are read by the authors themselves IMO.

This is probably why my spelling isn't brilliant either.

oh it's nothing personal, I don't know anything about him, will very likely never meet him and have only seen his face on newspaper front covers. Just like all the idiots who have some bizarre obsessive interest in whatever the fuck it is he does that's so important.

The whole thing is only of any consequence to his & the tv rights owners bank balance, it is quite pathetic really.

professional sports players are essentially parasites on society and should be treated with contempt.

I quite agree. and also the hypocrisy of sports really bugs me.
