The people took to the street a couple of years back demanding Mubarak to step down, the army sided with them, put martial law in place and promised elections and a new constitution. Fair elections were held and Morsi got elected, the first democratically elected leader in the country for the past 7000 years.

The urbanites who aspire to a Western lifestyle didn't like the fact poor, traditional conservatives from the countryside outnumber them drastically, so they took to the streets again as they didn't like Morsi, the army didn't feel like shooting on them and they're back at square one.

You either want democracy and have to be ready to accept whatever electoral outcome or you don't want it. Those people in the streets demonstrated they only want a democratically elected government if it fits with their world view

That whole string up some dead 'uns to scare 'em away is a myth! I've often been on a walk and come across 10 or more strung up and heard crows in the trees above me ... s'happened in one of my fave places to pick shrooms.

Also it's normally magpies that do that whole crawing thing early in the morning and wake peeps up .. they sound kinda similar and just as fucking noisy.

hahah yeah four lions is great. I am still gonna shoot all these fuckers though, waking me up at 5am and stealing all my chickens eggs.

I smoked some mackerel before, was great, but just had too many of them. my freezer had hundreds in a couple of years back for cod baits.

dabs are quite delicious, just grilled whole. mmm

I can't get a FAC either due to having psychiatric history / depression. I would love a rimfire .22 though, hunting rabbits with a limited air rifle is a bit of a challenge.
 
crows are mystical creatures. all cultures from western pagan lore to casteneda brujos refer to the raven as a spiritual avatar or roaming form of the witch/warlock. they are heavily involved in superstition the world over


i once exited a building, felt the urge to look back and was confronted by literally hundreds of crows standing together on the roof, silently watching me. i had never seen such behaviour before or since. it felt very unworldly



ceres - it probably is baby crows that are pissing you off. i once took mxe round a friends who had a group of them, squawking non stop very distinct from normal sounds. it was annoying


re the eggs, you could kill two birds with one stone (haha) getting revenge and saving your precious unfertilised embryo by ordering some of that foul-tasting liquid used to paint the nails of people who bite them. you could coat the shells of a few eggs and leave them for the birds to take. hopefully the taste would put them off further incursions, or not, its worth a try

I have had to suspend usage of the magpie poem because there's a magpie more or less living on the house opposite, which I can constantly see from the window by my desk. If it's not on the roof it'll be on the gatepost, or will be in the next ten minutes.
 
I wonder what would happen if i got some recordings of another bird, like a buzzard, and played them really loud out the window....

If you're gonna shoot crows, shoot magpies. They've proliferated ridiculously in 30 years. I don't think I'd seen one before I was about 16, now they're everywhere, eating all the other baby birds.

Bugger, I had a lovely blackbird experience the other day, I was careful to act trustworthy and it was hopping around within eighteen inches of me for a while.
 
we do have a sparrowhawk here, it's quite mad watching it take starlings. The crows don't seem fazed by the buzzards, see them getting mobbed quite a lot. I might just get a ladder out and dismantle their nest. The young seem to have hatched and fledged so im hoping they just naff off, but i think they come down to get the hen food, then steal their eggs. Only one magpie here, doesnt come round to the house very often.
 
fuck, out of mxe, only pregabalin and a couple of pyrazolam left. and these shitty 8mg codeine paracetamol things. i think i might just go to bed for a week.

nice morning over here, would like some drugs to compliment the day but i've been off em for a few months now so it'd be pointless to undo all the work
