I made some progress then slipped back Pinky . Still at least i l know i can do without it . Just got to make the gaps longer until it's one big gap !

This is very true indeed and is kinda how I approached the whole thing. Takes a bloody good run up and several false starts sometimes - especially for folk who've been at it ferra while - but each one is a step closer to the lap record. Is worth it though. Don't give up giving up as they say <3

That aside, morning all :)

Week of feeling bleeurgh now officially ended via the medium of MXE. Woot! Been ages since I had MXE. Tolerance not dropped quite as much as I'd hoped but after a 30-40mg line, a 50mg IM shot, and another 30-40mg line I'm feeling rather pleasant. Although quite tempted to go for another one of those middle ones cos am not a fan of lines. Ah well, DRUGS!!! Feels like forever since I had owt other than aMT. Probably cos it has been. Now to see how much catching up I can squeeze in before the pull of pink fluffy cotton-wool dissociated dreamscapes becomes to much to resist...

Shambles did you happen to see the Smashing Pumpkins at Glastonbury? If so what did you make of it? Personally I thought they played a brilliant set.

I was walking through town today listening to music on my phone and I saw someone with a iPhone (I think) in a case that made it look like a cassette. I've seen a few of these now so it must be popular. It got me thinking back to the days when we used to have cassette walkmans and you know what I miss? When the batteries started to go in a walkman and the music would gradually get slower and slower. Nowadays it just cuts off all of a sudden. Maybe someone could make an app that simulates this. Hey it wouldn't be any less or more useful than any other app on the market.

I did not see the Pumpkins at Glastonbury, Ben. Actually have no idea who played this year cos missed it all. Been meaning to have a potter and see if there was owt good so thanks for the heads-up. May just watch the Pumpkins set on iPlayer now. Especially as that second IM shot of MXE is kicking in nicely =D

Also, hahahahahahahhha! Great idea for an app! Perhaps it could also replicate that effect you got when the tape got twisted so would start playing whatever was on the other side of the tape backwards at the wrong speed whenever it got to that place. To this day some songs just sound weird without that lil interlude I remember from my Walkman-dominated youth :D

Yeah great idea. Then on the screen a picture of a cassette could come up and you have to use a pen to wind it back up and untwist the tape. It would double up as a difficult puzzle game. I think we have something there.

The Pumpkins were great. If you've read back through this thread you would have seen me reveal the cover the play but I think I'll pop it on again as it was a really great set. Heavy as all hell as well. I thought they may tone down a touch for the Glastonbury audience but no, they came out with all guns blazing.

Happy for you Cornish. How's the aristocratic sex coming along? It's dark, grey and windy here. Why don't painkillers make the sun shine?

Afternoon all, dissapointingly cloudy this afternoon, Kinda matching my mood

Bit hungover but enjoyed last nights game and the bonghits

its an unpopular view, but mp's for the qualifications they usually hold - actually are underpaid.
mp's educational equals/peers often end up earning multiples of what mp's do in law, banking, high ranking civil service jobs, business management etc. the classic example being tony/cherie blair, where she was earning vastly more than he was for (whatever your opinion as to the morality thereof) making historic, globally-significant decisions. which isnt desirable - as you end up attracting to the position the dynastically ever-rich

the trouble is we have too many... if we cut the amount of mp's and vastly increased the salary, hopefully we would attract superior candidates to the jobs and discourage the need/excuse for them taking dodgy shit on the side such as fiddling expenses and taking bungs from lobbyists etc.. but like decriminalising drugs, its seen as a very unpopular move with the voting masses

MP's were already on £60,000 per annum. Can't they get the pay rise when we're out of recession?

Just been firing off loads of job applications to keep the job center happy.

One of them phoned me immediately for a further chat, and it looks like they are gonna line me up for an interview. I thought it was meant to be dead hard to get a job, but I seem to be getting my foot in the door almost immediately. I dont want the job, ive got other plans, I'll just tell them something else has come up if they ring back i think.

Problm is BHM that most have enough to live on

Mark Hoban for instance the dwp minister recently defended the bedroom tax and then it turns out he made £144,000 profit on the sale of his " second" home
did he pay any tax on it? nope
And lets not talk about David Laws who made £1.6 millon bonus for one single deal before he quit morgan stanley and went into politics
Didnt stop him claiming expenses for his gay lovers co-ownership flat in kennington did it? Fleecing the taxpayer of course

This. The timing seems specifically designed to piss people off. And they wonder why they'd struggle to find anybody willing to piss on 'em in a sudden (and sadly unlikely) spontaneous human combustion scenario.

To an extent I actually agree with BHM that if you pay (relative) peanuts you get (actual) morons monkeys. But I agree far more with TLM that the way things are at the moment there are far too many Old Boys Network types who are already ripping us off for bullshit expenses, dodgy allowances of every conceivable (and several inconceivable) types, deeply suspect "consultancies" with companies they also rather handily (and no doubt completely coincidentally) happen to have policy influence over, and clearly don't pay a penny tax on most of it cos they can afford to be above the law.

MPs are public servants. If they want to moan about lack of pay parity with the private sector then let them fuck off there and do their private thing.

The idea that there are poor MPs doing the job for the public good when they could be earning fortunes elsewhere is laughable. There are far more benefits to being an MP, in this age of networking than pay alone. Almost any MP can earn in one private dinner speaking engagement alone as much as a single unemployed person can get in a year.

No doubt we will be hearing about the 80 hour working lunch week they do next.
