In my latest catalogue of disasterous damage to my own property i have now punctured my fucking fridge freezer and loads of gas hissed out. 8)

On the ESA benefit form it goes on about whether you are a danger to your own possesions. I fucking certainly have been. I wouldnt like to state what my repair or replacement bills have been over this last few weeks. I'm still too intimidated to make the 45 minute phone call to try to claim ESA. It sounds like you need a fuckin lawyer to help you.

I was sober when I did this one too, unlike all the others..
 
Do you have a support worker/key worker type person at all, MDB? If so get them to make the call with you, if not go to your local Citizen's Advice (or equivalent) and get them to help. The form itself isn't hard to fill out so much as irritatingly vague (except for the bits that are annoyingly over-specific). You'll most likely be able to skip most of the questions anyway so is not quite as bad as it looks at first glance. I'd definitely recommend getting somebody to help you fill it out whether by hand or over the phone though - especially if you (like me) aren't always good at explaining exactly what the situation is. Really helps to have somebody to help express the circumstances clearly. Get any doctors, drug workers, CPNs or whoever you deal with of such ilk to send in letters of support too - definitely helps your case.

Alternatively do what I usually do: get utterly annihilated and fill it out in a hazy frenzy then post it off before checking it. I suspect the borderline insanity that drips from my responses to each question speaks for itself :D
 
Yes i do have a support worker, and an appointment to see her on Tuesday. It's the fact that the claim is initially done over the phone with a 45 minute interrogation that scares me, if it was on a form I'd have plenty of time to think and not give the 'wrong answer' to anything. I'll see if my SW can help, she has been very helpful so far......
 
I hear you man. I get flustered when asked personal information over the phone. The facts just get wiped from my brain as I require them. Than after the event I replay the call over and over and play it out as it should have happened. I should then phone them back but I never do. Missus now handles these things thankfully as she is fully aware of my 'social inadequaces'.

^ Ha! All benefits forms are bizarre. There's a whole section of question about pissing/shitting yourself on the ESA form too. Dunno how they managed to spin it out into a whole section but they do like to know all the details :D

MDB: You don't have to do it over the phone - ask them to send you the form instead. I've never had to do it over the phone.

Shambles: I think it's a very recently introduced procedure that it has to be done over the phone. I could always phone them again and ask if they can send me a form.

Very handily managed to sleep in til precisely the right time to pick up me script, lovely warm sunny wander down to do so, munched half a pack of codeine on the way back, now starting to get itchy whilst supping coffee. A fine start to any day.

Nowt planned for the weekend really. Penniless as usual. Might get a bit of ket in tonight or tomorrow as I'm owed some but - as ever with my ketaman - whether it actually happens or not is another matter 8)

Do ask cos I only just recently had to fill out my ESA form (yet a-fukkin-gain - seems you have to reapply every six months or summat :\) and they did say I could just do it over the phone but they sent me the form anyway (which is what I used as usual).

Max after the enjoyment you've provided me the last week or so it was genuinly my pleasure. Sadly off the top of my head I sdon't know that one. Well I probably do but not off the top of my head. I'll have a root round though and see if I can find it and get it posted in time for your next adventure tomorrow. ;)
