I have just realised that rather than MXE making everything sound pitched up and cartoony, theres actually a bug with my ASIO audio driver and skype that has caused youtube videos to play back at slightly higher speed than usual.

I managed to see the Ron Mueck exhibition when it was on in Edinburgh a few years back .. they extended it for another week because it was so popular. LOVED it .. amazing stuff ...
Just saw he's got some new scultpures and a new show planned ... hope he brings it to the UK at some point.

I just tried to imagine you on the end of a leash and it didn't sit right. I think Mosely was the one issuing orders in his very British sex scandle tho, so who knows.

Ron Mueck < I like very much.
I've seen that last one - is it called Sleep or am I just being an uncaffeinated idiot? - up right close (and 'Dead Dad'). It's a bit overlit in that photo which makes it look harder and more plasticky than it does in the non-flesh. In 'real life' it's incredible how lifelike it appears.

I can't remember the name of any of his pieces tbh.
They had the 'sleep' sculpture at the exibit I saw tho ... there's was one of a couple facing away from each other in bed (their expressions are gobsmacking ... ) ... there was the one with a guy rowing a boat, and again, the expression is just breathtakingly good.
They take on a whole new element when you get to walk around each one and get to experience the sheer detail in relation to scale ... and he juxtaposes the small sculptres against the large too which really works

Those sculptures are amazing. They do look plastic though but as Jancrow has already pointed out that's down to the lighting and photography. To have the patience to do something like that, crazy.

Jan you're spot on about the lighting really altering the reality ... the type of lighting in the photography really changes the authenticity ... two different pics of the baby one to compare:
IRL, the skin had that really natural, slightly blotchy colour babies have, and it's pretty prominent and life like, whereas you can hardly see it in the 2nd pic here ... the skin and detailing is way too shiny

My Mum had food poisoning last week . Real food poisoning they had to report it & everything .
Now she has got a really bad cough , poor woman can barely speak .
