'When The Wind Blows' is all about the relationship of the two characters in the film Albion. Real sad depressing film. Damn Shambles think I'd be scarred for life if I saw that at a certain age, either that or not get it and wish it had more Transformers in it and be bored for the entire thing.

Best bit about that relationship you have with your nephew as you put it is snolly is you can give him back at the end of the day =D Thanks for the kind words <3

Yep yep ;) Ideal situation. Is cool knowing I've contributed to the formation of his personality in some small part too, without having to destroy me lady bits in the process =D

Got me valentines day text, gonna be smiling all day I think. Never been one for it, but I've never really been in love before either, so it's nice :) Wish she could be here but schedules have conspired. Ah well, there's still the weekend.

edit: found further joy in this little linky http://archive.org/details/netlabels. Some quality stuff on there, all free. Dusted Wax Kingdom is an excellent label, lots of electronic, ambient, glitchy, jazzy stuff on there if that's ya bag.

i cried like a little girl watching Grave of the Fireflies. can't think of any other film that has turned on the water works for me, the dvd should come with a prozac script

Threads is another one I saw as a kid. Scared the living crap outta me. Have been meaning to rewatch it for years but am frankly still too scared. Those 80s nuclear war films were fukkin hardcore. Especially for us kiddiewinks. Dunno why me parents let me watch them really but I certainly saw a few. Think I saw Threads at me grannies actually. She let me watch anything I wanted (unless it clashed with Emmerdale Farm). Almost wished she hadn't let me in that instance. Nightmares for years afterwards.

Hehe. You're probably technically old enough to have fathered me, SHM. But once you get past yer 20s or thereabouts everyone is old by definition anyway so stops making so much of a difference. I get to wish I'd been old enough to be there for punk, you get to wish you were young enough to have stayed up all night dancing wasted in fields... Hang on a minute... I've been swizzed :!

i love when the wind blows. got my friend the book. I find it a bit worrying that they don't tell us to build the shelters and they've decomissioned all the bunkers and that. i'd say they've either realised there's just no point because who would they be governing anyway, or there's just no point because they would end up deaded in the end anyway. absolutely terrifoied of the threat i was. There was a qed programme on the various effects at various distances from the centre of attack.
I know for certain there was one pointing at spaghetti junction.

I do wonder weather or not to believe the north koreans or not about their successful test. they do lie people in power. Great the way that we get told about the boss of North Korea being a big fat liar look at them. lying again!! oooh no. we would never lie. I meant to watch threads but never did.

what are kids scared of these days?

I was left to my own devices a lot, due to sis being in hospital and father being out on the piss, so the TV was mine and I could watch what I liked. I loved it when Channel 4 started up cause they had a better choice of films. I used to stay up until 12am watching all sorts of weird and interesting stuff.

I saw all the series of tales of the unexpected, hammer horror etc ... there's one ace film I can't remember the name of and I recalled it to my bro recently to see if he could remember ... I just remember one scene from it, that being either set on a train, or in a hospital, and with a red lightbulb/lighting, and there was a guy on a bed/gurney type of thing, and half his body was covered up with a blanket, which when pulled back revealed a pigs body attached to the man's head.

My bro recons it was one of Spike Milligan's films or short but I haven't looked into that yet. I used to watch weird stuff like that on BBC2 and Ch4 all the time. Does it ring any bells?

Also when I was about 6, my bro was babysitting me once and I woke up at 1AM, came downstairs and screamed when I saw the telly cause there was a scene on that just featured someone buried and all you could see was a pair of eyes poking out of the sand or dirt or whatever they were buried in. Scared me to death and was hysterical for a while. That ring any bells either? I wanna relive the moment and put some context on the scene

It took my bro a good hour to calm me down. Apparently the only thing that worked to stop me crying was letting me listen to the Beatles' Nowhere Man, and Led Zepplin's Stairway to Heaven. Whenever my bro wanted to torment or scare me from then on, he just had to mention 'THE EYES!' and I'd start wittering.

But do you still do the really bad dance from the opening credits of Tales of the Unexpected?

No, no. Me neither. No.

Lyndsay Anderson's 'Britannia Hospital'?

That almost sounds like my ideal childhood, Marmz. Almost. And suspect that wasn't quite the case...

Neither of your remembrances rings a bell with me. Which is a shame - especially with pigman cos that sounds brilliant :D

My old man used to fix electronic stuff (tellies mostly) so I ended up with a teensy (4-6") B&W telly cum radio cum tapedeck combo thingy that somebody never picked up. Was supposed to turn it off at nine or ten at night but obviously didn't so also watched a lotta weird shit on latenite BBC2/C4 when I could get away with it. Was patchy though and definitely don't recall those two you mention.

PinkP: Why would anybody give a toss about NK having a nuke? What the fuck are they gonna do with one? Same with Iran. They ain't stoopid. They know damn well they couldn't actually attack anyone with 'em cos they'd be wiped off the face of the Earth within minutes by the Yanks. Is just a bargaining tool is all. Vain attempt at stopping the US from invading on a whim sometime.

ooo, just looked but I don't think it's that. Looks great tho, and fab cast ... Robin Askwith too, lawdy. Mr Confessions of a Window Cleaner.

I think I'd probably remember if Rossiter was in it tho, and no mention of trains, and I'm sure a train featured in some way. I'll deffo look to 'purchase' it and have a gander at it tho, cheers

SHM, that theme tune and scene was mesmerising, loved it. Used to always leave me feeling slightly nervous and on edge

It's either that or O Lucky Man, and I think it's that to be honest.

edit: ninja'd by fishface

My girlfriend is obsessed by the intro to 'Tales of The Unexpected'. She's also being really difficult and annoying today. :(

Just had a bath in me new and thus far unused bath - first bath in ages due to lack of hot water. Lush <3

Although they seem to have fitted a bath intended for a doll's house for some reason. Bleedin' eco-friendly water-saver jobby. Have never felt such a fat fuck in me life. May be a bit of a fat fuck but nothing like the level of fat fuckdom suggested by being virtually wedged in on all sides. Might bathe in the sink in future. Is probably more roomy.

It also appears to be made out of the slippiest substance known to man. Ree-dick-you-less-lee slippy. Only used it for showering previously and is borderline lethal so was expecting bathing to be safe. Oh no. Need to use the handles on the side cos if you try to lean on the actual bath whilst getting out you go straight under cracking yer head off said handle. Thing's a fukkin deathtrap I tells ya - a fukkin deathtrap 8(

Alternatively, I should possibly invest in one of those non-slip rubber showerbath mat thingies and stick to showering.

by saying still it sounds as tho you did at one point. It was a good dance. My brother was very good at it.

I do just want a simple life. I'm not materialistic that's how i've coped with bag headom so well. i must raise my living standards a bit. I'm talking to myself again. well, well , well.

A mates just put on FB his NES, SNES MegaDrive Saturn Dreamcast & N64 consoles & Games are all sorted and ready to be sold on.

I'm urging him not to as he'll regret it in 10 years but then I am a hoarder. It just seems a no brainer to me they'll go up in value, plus he has 2 small kids who'd love them when they're older.
