Yeah I remember there being a lot of annoying places in DOTT where I had no idea what to do for huge periods of time, not played it since I was a kid though so can't really remember too well. Aye the Monkey Island series is great.

Finished Day of The Tentacle and a couple of Monkey Islands on my phone about a year back, got to say that the Tentacle was quite irritating in terms of getting stuck and having to combine various random inventory items to proceed... it doesn't seem as logical as the Monkey Island series.

DOTT was great. I loved it.

But for absolute point-and-click heaven:

Never finished it either. :|

Naw unfortunately not, I can store 30 SMS messages though. Always seem to loose any decent phone I get :/ Been meaning to download some old classics onto the computer for a while now, have just not got round to it.

Anyone remember this little gem?

Used to love all the megadrive stuff as well, Goldenaxe, Streets of rage etc :D
Anyone play the point and click PC stuff like Day of the Tentacle or Sam&Max?

Good luck with your disability interview Shammy, hope they don't try and fuck you over what with the recent stories and all.

Thanks, Eclipse :)

Am not too worried about the disability advisor tbh. Is the second appointment with her I've had since they changed it all up round here. As with all these changes nothing has actually changed other than being shunted from one "advisor" to another at regular intervals so it looks like things are happening. All they actually do is ask if you've had a miraculous healing, tell you there's nothing they can do to get you into work then send you off to some other outside agency advisor (who says and does exactly the same and sends you back - and round and round we go, costing Johnny Taxpayer for each and every visit, letter, phone call, travel fees, etc, etc) then rinse/repeat ad nauseum. Total pisstake but mainly just in terms of wasting everybody's time, costing more than the old system, solving nothing, helping nobody and making life one endless worry about being randomly cut-off or simply lost between the cracks being shunted from pillar to post on a weekly basis :\

In gaming news, never did play the Leisure Suit Larry games. Was somewhat tempted but was probably too old to be tempted by the *ahem* "scintillating sex" aspect by the time I got a PC. Had a few Speccy ones though :D

Most didn't have such high quality graphics as this one but couldn't find any of the truly hilariously bad ones :(

Use a PC gamepad controller thingy then maybe, Adam?

N64 controller was weird enough to make some of those a bit fiddly sometimes perhaps (USB N64 controllers are available for the dedicated though) but never had a problem with any others. Nor with N64 ones really. Just a weird setup to try to map to a standard controller on one or two particular games from memory.

Get yersen a USB connect-y thing and a cheap PS1 pad that'll plug into it. Use that for all my emulate-y needs :D

Like my point and clicks too, Eclipse. Loved Full Throttle, and all the PC Monkey Islands. Just picked up Beneath a Steel Sky cos I haven't played that in years, and the Indiana Jones ones too. There's a load of awesome free indie ones on http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ too

i have a pc pad but its that old definitly would be incompatible. i might look into it. talking of point and click anybody remember the dizzy games for the commodore omega i think it was. every month i used to buy a new one (about 15 quid!) and it was just a floppy disk, sometimes 2 in a cardboad box with a small instructions. dont think i ever completed any of them

edit: fuck you gamezone you ripoff bastards

^^ Wasn't that an Atari one, Mysh? Never played it but have heard of it. Is rather legandarily offensive (and shite). May have to get meself the Atari (or whatever it is) emulator just for the experience =D

You're a star, Snoll-de-Roll <3

Saw that ages ago and quite fancied it. Had the Speccy equivalent (Graphic Adventure Creator) many years ago. Quite like the idea of making lil adventure games. Doubt I ever will but might have a crack at those created by more dedicated folk than I so thanks for the linky :)

Also, there is actually a "Favourite Oldskool Computer Games" thread somewhere around these parts if memory serves. Might be an idea for any passing mod to make with the merging given the topic seems to come up fairly frequently.

Adam: I <3 the Dizzy games. Bought the lot (£2.99 a pop in Speccyworld) and completed 'em all too. Properly good lil games they were too.

did you ever get bubble dizzy? god that was shit. i might even have some laying around somewhere or at my mums. if i find them will pix them for those retro vibes
