Exactly. This is the sort of shit I'm on about. It seems that the ED rules state you can say whatever the fuck you like, and claim it as absolute fact, about MDMA as long as it's negative.

It's all well & good for those of us who regularly read this section of Bluelight. Who get a more balanced opinion on things. But where do you think you'd look if you had no clue about drugs, wanted to know more about Ecstasy & found Bluelight? You'd look at all the 15 year olds freaking out in ED.

I was lucky enough to find this section of Bluelight when I joined. I was looking for info on eckies, specifically why they were suddenly shite after years of being good, & only found here because I was wanting to know what was happening with UK pills, not just pills in general. Edit - Otherwise I would have read half the stuff on ED, thought to myself "I know that is not true" & not believed (or even bothered to read) anything else on here.

The first few posts I made this week, my friend, were taking the piss.

Since then I've been a bit more thoughtful

I've just tried to relate my experiences of ecstacy use within my peer group.

I thiink it is relevant. You can't have an Ecstacy Discussion forum, but only allow a certain subjectively acceptable type of experience report.

Okay then, MM, PTCH,swedger - I trust you all and actually think it's a good thing tht you're posting if that's truly your intent. Don't breach my trust, please. I'll get all cranky.

I'd only read the troll posts because they were mostly reported, so I admittedly don't know the full story. I will fight your respetive cases 'backstage' if ever it becomes necessary. Just try and remember it ain't EADD, right? ;)

Gotta say, Sam's right. EADD is much more leniently moderated than any other forum (maybe the Lounge, but even they have rules). Other forums will have different and stricter rules than this one.

It really makes me sad to see people trashing ED; I put a huge amount of work into that forum back in the day. So did Mash and plenty of others from the UK, as well as Aussies and other Kiwis, like the very knowledgeable Bilz0r. Sure, a lot of the people who post there are ignorant. That's because people tend to develop knowledge, stick around and help for a while, and then get bored with giving out basic advice repeatedly. So the average level of knowledge stays low. Which means that if you want to stick around you have to develop a high tolerance for dumb/basic questions.

So you know - if you don't like basic questions, maybe that's not the place for you - unless you can ignore those threads and pick out the really interesting ones. If you want to have a discussion and bring up your experience and knowledge, great :) But please don't troll the place, if the mods are any good they're spending hours per day working on it, for nothing as Sam says. Do it for the mods; do it for me <3

(btw, on the frequency argument: I always used to tell 'em to use once a month or so - I figured two weeks was probably more realistic, but no-one would listen anyway so if I said a month they might keep it to two weeks. But the "3 months" argument comes from none other than Ann Shulgin).
 
IJ - It's not the basic questions that we're taking issue with. They're just funny. It's the answers that are pissing people off. Also the attempts to shutdown any viewpoint that differs from the grand word of Folley (he fought & died for that shit).

Some of the rules are mad. I just saw a thread closed because someone posted a Blue Defqon photo & asked for info on it. Why on earth is that not allowed when it would clearly be allowed here? "Other forums have other rules". Why though? You'd think if there was any forum you could ask for info on an eckie it would be eckie discussion lol.

I think almost our entire Regional Pill/MDMA Discussion thread (basically our Ecstasy Thread) would be completely against ED rules haha.

Because Pill ID and Info questions are to be asked at Pill Report.com. I did not make these rules I just enforce them. If you have a problem PM me don't trash me behind my back.

Those are the rules. Maybe because it diverts site traffic from them? I don't know; I don't care; I didn't make the rules; they have been there a long time...

I will say this... I don't want you lot to stop posting in ED. I'd like some new faces, people who aren't pre-teen idiots asking the same questions every day but that's what we have to deal with at the moment. I've only been a mod for a short time and I'm trying to make changes but they don't happen overnight.

I'm making new stickies so we dont get the same idiotic questions all the time, but that's all I can do. This forum get's a lot of traffic but I still gurantee it'll have under 50 views in two weeks time.

That sticky should answer 70% of the shit we get but nobody would read it. People are idiots, but it's our job to deal with them.

Fair enough mate, I'm definitely against shutting down alternate viewpoints [where's Ismene? He can back me up - we had some huge debates over there when I was a mod, and I'm sure I never stopped him from disagreeing with me :)]

Funnily enough ED isn't for discussion of specific pills - that should be pillreports. The usual argument is that "no-one can know what is in your pill by looking at" and there's so much regional variation that there's no point and that you should just get a test kit. At least with PR you have people from a particular region looking at the report.

Honest answer? Because no-one's ever been able to muster enough support to impose uniform rules accross BL =D. The Aussies all think their rules are correct (and they are even stricter than ED, although ED got stricter over time due to some Aussie mods....in AusDD you're not allowed to talk about how much drugs cost - I got edited for explaining that people did Pipes instead of MDMA in New Zealand, because MDMA was so expensive ;)). The Lounge gets away with being horrible to newbies and posting total crap because no-one has been able to take it on (and just ban dozens of people). EADD is a fucking fortress that will resist any attempts at external control (that's a compliment :)...I don't know if you were here when Catch-22 tried to impose a whole bunch of new rules on this forum? Let's say it didn't work).

Now if I was dictator of BL I'd probably be able to make the rules more similar accross the board, but it's impossible to do that democratically. Every forum would want to stick to its own rules, rather than compromise. So we have a situation where it's one board with some rules in common, and indvidual rules that have evolved in each forum.

Does that sorta make sense? :)
 
It's literally one of those daft rules that's there "just because". Again, not having a go at you - just at the rules in general. It's like the "NO PRICE DISCUSSION!" rule that seems to apply to every other part of Bluelight, yet I can rock in here, shout "I just bought 5 pills for £40, a quarter of weed for £60 & a gram of ching for £40" & it's absolutely fine.

I wish it was just an age thing, but it's not. ED is mainly inhabited by Americans who don't know their left from their right and need spoon-feeding the basics.

That's not a mad stereotype, just a trend... Sometimes the questions are that stupid I think twice about answering because I think they must be having a laugh.

Anyways, I digress. Give us a few weeks and hopefully the forum will be a tidier, more respectful place... If you read my email of application to be a mod you would of seen the words " HR balanced with practicality "

They did tend to clog the forum, is the problem, I think. But I feel like rules can be changed, if there's no reason for them anymore. Oh wait. I checked the rules - it says to use Pillreports or your regional forum - which makes sense, ED is meant to be global.

No reason why you guys can't change them :) Once upon a time, I wrote some of them. They've been changed since then. And I don't have a monopoly on knowledge, ya know? ;)

Oh man. I want to give you a big hug right now <3. People have been trying that approach since before I joined BL, and it never works. You cannot force people to read FAQs, most of them just don't. People want to ask questions and have them answered by other people. I'm a reference librarian, I do this for a job - I try to build FAQs and it has very little effect, people still ask me the basic questions. [But don't get downhearted! ;)]

Edit: re prices. The original reasons for not allowing them were: 1. because they could be interpreted as sourcing - if pills are £10 in a club, and I'm on here saying I get them for £2, everyone knows I'm buying in bulk. So they might try to buy drugs off me. Not a terrible argument, because BL really was, and is, watched by police, especially in Aus and in the US to a lesser extent. What people post here has had real-liffe effects. (I think there's a way around that problem though). 2 because they're pointless - the price you pay is the price you pay, and it doesn't matter if someone else can get them cheaper; you obviously don't have the right contacts (which seems dumb to me).

Different forum, diferent region, different pills.

We've arrived at a time where a handful of Dutch pills of various presses are widely circulated. You can basically trust a stamp again for the first time in years.

In the US, Australia and elsewhere, this isn't the case. So the thread may have been closed due to some rule that's designed to prevent people readily 'tusting' certain stamps. I don't know - that's just a guess.

Yeah, some of it might seem strange and bizarre. As I'm sure thi forum does to many.
