It's not often I say this, but well put, Yella.

And there are still rampant inequalities. Makes me glad I have a cock and balls, even if they're a wee bit unwieldy.
 
I dunno if he is fishing, but he makes a few valid points, people need to stop being so PC

Unlike me, his comments cannot hide behind cultural arguments and eastern philosophy, but what has he said that is actually that wrong?

He expressed his viewpoint that as far as gender power games go, women can more often than not try for the upper hand, I am sorry but this is clearly the norm in the western world, you only have to look at advertising to see this

People aren't 'being PC'. They're expressing their views, just as you and Ceres have yours.

If those views seem somehow excessively 'PC' to you, then perhaps you need to need to cut down on the eastern philosophy and enlighten yourself with regard to what's actually going on around you. I mean that in the nicest sense.

Or maybe meet a nice woman? :)

Well thats the crux, everything that happens around us( from a buddhist viewpoint) is illusory to begin with, even the sexist Diet coke ad;s ( from both angles)

Bottom line is consistancy should also equate to compromise

Problem is when we get this massive gap in reality based on what ONE gender thinks about how it should be treated, and that will never end well

I loathe advertising anyhow, but don't you think that women have had the shitty end of the exploitation / degradation / objectification stick as far as advertising goes since time immemorial?

I'm very, very suprised that you'd be so offended and / or threatened by something so frivolous.

Regardless, you can't judge a society (or even its intrisic values beyond a certain point) by advertising. Sorry, but you're not going to convince me that women in general have an 'easy ride'.

Unless of course, said 'ride' is me after a couple of shandies down the indie-rock disco, then it's damn easy. But that's not a route many would queue up to take.

TBH I really dont know, and I have only been alive for less than 40 years so who knows, I only really want to go about stuff via my own experience and not what people tell me may or may not have been true, for some this might be translated as denial but for me I see it as my own reality

What I do know is I wont be beaten around the head by a stick from the PC brigaade regarding an assumption that people have made based on what may or may not have happened many years ago ( which is all totally fucking subjective to begin with anyways)

sorry, I'm alive now in the 21st century, not victorian times. Are you saying that because women didn't have the vote, were subordinated etc in the past, women today should therefore get the moon on a stick just because they are female? That men today should be paying some kind of emotional compensation to them because of what people alive before them did?

hard to swallow when half of the economy is based on facepaint and fancy dress for these newly emancipated modern women.
