Where I worked before being made redundant would not allow e-cigs to be used in the canteen, you still had to go out to the smoking shelter outside if you wanted to use one, which kind of defeated the object of using one in the first place.

He's alive, probably just dealing with real life stuff. Agreed that he's missed on here, though. Maybe more double-posting is required.

I hear if you post three times in a row in a darkened room just after midnight, he'll appear and merge your posts

^Heh :D

Just realised I've surprisingly managed to put aside enough money to buy myself a gram of coke for my birthday, which is when I've decided to stop this cleanse thing (mid-december, that's good enough). Very happy about that, I feel like it'll be an appropriate reward =D

How's everyone's week-end been?

Cancer Research has stated that the ecig is "almost certainly" much safer than smoking tobacco cigarettes. The jury is still out. I believe they are healthier, but probably not totally harmless. There are over 200 carcinogens in cigarettes, no one seems really sure if nicotine itself causes cancer. There are far less potential carcinogens in the ecig.

There has been research that shows nicotine can be carcinogenic, however it has not been demonstrated outside the laboratory. And you know what happens in the laboratory, they probably use quantities of nicotine which would kill you from straightforward toxicity.

Chargrilled and barbecued meats contain similar carcinogens as tobacco smoke. Chips and crisps contain carcinogenic substances. And of course alcohol causes cancer too.

That article linked by inflorescence raises concerns about other substances that are used in some ecigs, not nicotine. I don't think "the jury is out" that an ecig made with non-toxic substances is safer than smoking tabs. Surely if only some of those ecigs tested had dangerous chemicals, than some didn't :? The logical thing to do would be standardise on the safe stuff.

Guess the tobacco lobby is acting in full force as it has always done. ecigs represent a threat to BAT, Imperial Tobacco, etc. I'm sure they're pestering governments to protect their profits...

Thank fuk for that i thgought you were going all soft n giving up drugs all together :)

yeah i agree knock, i didnt word my post very well or put much thought into it, and id forgotten that about processed food and stuff, thats why they have to add 'antioxidants' isnt it, to compensate for the carcinogens. Of course you are much more likely to get cancer if you smoke tobacco all your life (50% chance smoking will kill you though not necessarily by cancer) than if you were to eat a pack of crisps every day.

How are you feeling these days Pagey ? Is your mood feeling any better ?

theyd be better off persuading governments to lessen the obscene amounts of tax levied on tobacco, it is that which is providing the motivation for most to give up

i think life is intrinsically carcinogenic, it's also thought that stress can cause cancer, is this then carcinogenic too?

if charred meat is truly harmful, i shall be fucked, as i a complete culinary heathen who can't abide anything less than on the nuclear side of well done. i have never, and will never eat a bloody steak. that shits not done

also, tapeworms. ex had a thing for sushi and tried to turn me to the darkside. not only did i not try any - i didnt let her kiss me either

i know i know, cruel but necessary

^ lol, well gay.

I ate meat until I was 16. It was rare of GTFO for me.

You may as well be eating quorn if you eat your meat well done.

You're going to make a kick-ass veggie one day BHM, you mark my words ;p

Anyone got a tablet?

I'm thinking about getting one. Either an iPad or a Samsung Note 10.1 or Tab 3. I like the idea of an iPad because it'll sync a lot better with my Macbook but I'm wary of a locked down iOS. Can anyone with an iPad tell me what it can't do?

I've got a Note 10.1 (GT N8010) It's good hardware, and it has some nice touches like very good handwriting recognition. On the other hand I'm not personally a big fan of some of Samsung's modifications to Android. I'd rather run Cyanogenmod which is a community build of Android. But some of the tablet's hardware is not well supported by Cyanogenmod (because Samsung don't give them the details they need to write drivers). If I was going to by an Android tablet now I'd probably buy one of the Asus Transformers. As the name suggests they come with a detachable keyboard. There are times on-screen keyboards just don't cut the mustard.

What do you want to sync with your Macbook? There should be no problems transferring files over bluetooth, USB or even wifi.

Mm, it appears so! I've never been stood up before. Have you, mdb?

(Course, it probably doesn't count if I don't actually leave the house, and spend the evening listening to grunge on my sofa instead, but..)
