Eek. Well I certainly won't be taking my screwdriver collection then. =D

Very wise, on said occasion the tool kit was somewhat of a necessity, when the guy picked up one of the screwdrivers and said "what is this for?" I knew there was going to be trouble, the answer "for doing up screws" although accurate did not go down well and the automatic weapon was raised and used to usher me back in the direction of check in.

This was many years ago and things have tightened up significantly since so I'm guessing you'd be getting the chainsaw in the shower treatment for a nail file these days.....have a nice trip:D

World War Z was 'meh'. Scariest 'zombies' I've ever seen though
This is the end was funny...only because I like the actors. Bit lame the overall message though.
Paranorman was good. Concept, CGI...
Oblivion... I liked it actually, few flaws but I couldn't guess what was going to happen.
New superman film was alright. Some epic fight scenes. Didn't blow me away.
Startrek... Liked it a lot...prefer the first one though.

Should have been for the film recommendation thread? maybe. Seemed more like gibberings to me though!

because wanting to have sex with animals is a more appropriate man emotion ... :P

TD have you read the book, world war Z? i found it captivating enough to be worth straining my eyes and reading it on a tablet...

swampdragon, dont forget to test all the wines there. italians have it good with that too... wish i could remember the name of that damn pasta dish i had whilst there, freaking amazing it was...

curious how i associate certain heavenly meals with the places i visited. like the steak with pepepr sauce i had in some shady restaurant in Lisbon. can still taste it.. in my best dreams... ahhhh

That's the absolute norm for me, I always remember the food I eat when I'm travelling around, especially if it's things that really do stand out or are only available locally, I'm a bit obsessed with food though, not that uncommon over here to drive to other rural areas just to taste their local specialities.

@TD its not that the movie is bad, i quite enjoyed it, just that the book format better suits the way the story unfolds.... the zombie waves were quite impressive in the movie tbh
@MK i love travelling and eating too. the best finds though are the ones that are completly unexpected.
heck i once was checked in at a hotel in north of Italy, no plans whatsoever to stay there, nothing that special about it. Next morning, woke up to the included breakfast - holy sh*t, it was only cakes coffe and milk, but the cakes were the best ive ever eaten, the kinds with layers and all sorts of creams and mascarpone... best tiramisu ever.
unfortunately local rural areas around my parts are mostly about cured ham and cheese, and those get old after a while. literally

Yep, I tend to remember places based on what meals I've had. I'm very much a foodie tourist, so my first time in Italy is something I'm rather looking forward to! Will definitely be trying the wines too, though I'm not much of a drinker these days.

And talking about food is making me fucking hungry, given I've not had dinner yet. Wah.

^If you like to eat Italian food that is not that known and popular abroad, come to Piedmont, when it comes to the local cuisine, there's a lot of variety, the food is different compared to other regions of the country, obviously being encircled by the Alps, most dishes are hearthy and often feature game , like boar, venison... When it comes to wines, the Langhe area is widely considered to be one of the best wine making regions in the world.

Hardly anyone on my FB has mentioned GTA. Having said that, it has gone weirdly quiet.

Ooh, noted! Piedmont's already on the list but it just got bumped quite a lot higher. *drool*

Ditto. Detto.
K 6 a T?

id love me some well cooked boar...

and wines? im not a connoisseur by any standard, but for some reason i can spot the good from the bad :)

how much time will you have in Italy?

TD its fine, you know there are pirates out there working to sort you out. GTA will make a bazillion dollars anyways if the past is anything to go by.

the thing is, i keep thinking this is probably the swansong for the old consoles. a dying swan, i cant believe they have been able to not upgrade them in so long, the xbox especially.

Me? 5 days in Rome. Enough time to return 3 stone heavier anyway. :)

Shall be buying GTA when I return, methinks.

enjoy it! hope you see some sight too while digesting! :) now stop reading bluelight and get on with your packing!

off to bed. sucky work tomorrow.
