Gibberings CXIII - Cocks r us

To someone who is not a fan of sports, boxing, or fighting it sounds to me like...

MMA is (somehow) a legitimised form of bare-knuckle fighting?

Gypsy fighting is also bare-knuckle fighting (but with more rules to disallow kicking) but is illegal cos they're gypsys?

Do underground (non-gypsy) bare-knuckle fights still go on, or have they fizzled out now they can legitimately cage fight, and presumably gambling goes on.

I think licensing and health and safety (like having doctors present) are probably the biggest factors dividing the two, er, schools.

Confusing terminology, because white collar also means professional, as in desk job, as opposed to blue collar manual work. I suppose it means they're amateur fighters. Or are bin-men and posties not allowed to take part?

I think the idea is that the people fighting have no experience of fighting. Think that although it originated in a fight-clubesque manner of office workers having a scrap at the weekend it been opened up to basically being anyone of any age fighting if they've had no/little prior training.

For legal white collar matches you'll have to be carded by a doctor to say you're fight to fight and most places will require a minimum amount of training before they let you fight.

Bare knuckle is totally illegal.

This is the aftermath for GSP, a fighter who won his most recent UFC fight.

its all shit imo, but at least if they can go and beat the shit out of other like-minded folk it keeps them away from mincers like me.

Like Jancrow said. MMA etc requires a license. It's done (wrongly imo, but that's besides the point) in pubs, sports halls etc where it is advertised beforehand, tickets are sold, a license is obtained etc. Not down some farmer's lane somewhere away from the public. Other than that though, yes it pretty much is a legit form of bare knuckle (or near enough, they wear tiny wee gloves) fighting (not boxing).

Gypsy fighting is not legit, it's illegal because they have no licenses, no medical staff, no trained refs (other than a neutral gypsy bloke for each side & the crowd themselves). This will be done well out the way of the general public & it certainly won't be advertised lol. The difference in the actual fighting is that the gypsy fight is bare knuckle boxing. Punches only. You can't start pulling out choke holds & fly kicks like you can in MMA.

Maybe instead of chessboxing (which I only found out actually existed and wasn't a Wu concoction the other day) they could do MMA then Connect 4.

Edit: TAP OUT, man there are so many wannabes wearing those t-shirts these days, some of them quite hilarious like this permanently drunk deaf Polish 50 yr old who lives down the road from me.

Chess Boxing is an amazing concept. A round of chess, then a round of boxing, then back to a round of chess & so on, init? At least I think it is, fucking embarrassed face from me if it's not at all lol.

Wu reference it because it's equal parts intelligence & fighting ability. Two things that rarely go together. Most proper intelligent people aren't stupid enough to let someone punch them in the face for sport lol.

I think that's what it is. But Wiki says it was invented in a French comic in 1992. I find that hard to believe... I do vaguely know someone who's actually doing it.
