Just don't downplay it, make sure he/she gives you a referral for a blood test.

That's right. One of the good things about diagnosing liver problems is that liver function test can be undertaken quite easily by a simple blood test. He may want to do a complete blood count, thyroid, and lipid profile to give you a full bill of health.

I'm sure it'll be fine mate but you're doing the right thing getting it checked out

FG-Buy some a decent brand of 'Milk Thistle' solgar or something they even sell decent ones at Sainsbury's pharmacy now..I swear this is the main reason why my liver is still in pretty good shape..can't hurt... <3

I'd hold off on the herbal/alternative remedies for now, just get your stomach area looked at first. It might not even be a liver issue after all.

Most really big supermarkets in cities tend to have a pharmacy think even Asda has one in my nearest city..Maybe you are right Lurching..bloods first..must say though I have taken milk thistle for years...tend to do 3 months then give it a few weeks break and start again. My skin feels looks better when I am taking it-IBS better...and no achey liver back pain but yep right thing is probably to see Doc first.

Right I am off to sleep now after a night of worry...:| CWE about to go down hatch and hoping it will knock me out...so tired and ill and so tired of being ill and tired.

That frustrating time when you are writing an E-mail, un-writing an E-mail, re-wording it, deleting it, disregarding it, re-starting it. Thinking shall I write it? Shall I not?

Arrrrrggggggggg I vote we all get over-taking by cybermen. Hah

Hope you get some sleep, inflo. I never knew that supermarkets had pharmacy. I've often heard people mention them but always assumed they meant pharmacy next door to it n said ***** pharmacy for short. Makes sense, I guess. They have everything else lol

Are you sure the pain is coming from your liver?......stomach and liver pain can easily be confused due to their close proximity in the abdominal/thoracic cavity.

I seem to remember hearing that the liver has no pain receptors which is why liver disease can get to an advanced stage before you're even aware there's a problem. Is this true?

Well kind of mate but not really......

Liver pain can be hard to identify and localize because pain from abdominal organs, such as the liver, is often perceived in a vague, ill-defined manner by the brain. Also mate, the liver’s pain receptors lie mainly on itssurface, especially in the capsule covering a portion of the liver, meaning that pressure on the capsule is most often the source of pain.

This pain is usually felt in the upper right part of the abdomen, often under the rib cage, and is almost always associated with a
swelling or enlargement of the liver, acute inflammation or distention of the liver’s surface, or any other sort of injury that puts pressure on the capsule.
A number of disorders can cause right upper quadrant, or liver, pain. Causes of pain originating in the liver itself include chronic hepatitis (liver inflammation),bfatty liver disease, liver abscess, and liver cancer. Other conditions that can produce liver pain by irritating or putting pressure on the liver include ascites (buildup of fluid in the abdomen), gallstones, gastritis (stomach inflammation), pain from pneumonia located in the lower portion of the right lung, and irritablebowel syndrome. Pain that originates in the liver is often referred to, or perceived in, the right shoulder.Liver pain may be confused with a more general abdominal pain, unless it occurs specifically in the upper right abdomen.

To anyway to summarise you question FUBAR mate, the liver DOES have pain receptors but liver pain is pretty complicated...
