Gibberings CXCI -- these tarts were made for popping

Currently sat up waiting for the electrician; came home to find just the kitchen without power, the rest of the house is fine. Got half a mind to stick the kettle in the front room.
Sounds as though the kitchen is on a separate circuit breaker from the rest of the house. Probably a 20 amp radial for the sockets and a 32 amp dedicated breaker for a cooker, with a 32 amp ring main for upstairs and the front room. (A ring main has two "tails" back to the circuit breaker, so each socket has effectively twice the cross-sectional area of cable feeding it as compared to a radial main, which has only one "tail" back to the breaker. A thin appliance flex might not withstand the fault current required to trip a 32 amp circuit breaker, and could go on fire before the breaker trips; which is why every plug on a ring main requires its own correctly-rated fuse.)

Anyway, let us know what was up with it when you get it fixed ..... just Merionesian curiosity .....

Good morning darling sadie how're you?

Tired and cranky because I have no alarm to set to let me sleep until 10! Other than that peachy m'lovely girl! Hope you're keeping well my darling.

Also, lucked out, alarms on other devices did not go off but someone called my house at 7:30 and it woke me up. SCORE!!!!

I just found out my bro is going back for three weeks so I am on the study floor all the way up to the holiday :( only just organised and tidied my room.

I need a PA to be my alarm clock and call my house phone!!!! Gah, I have relied on my mobile far too much!

I know what you mean. I set special alarms on my phone for if I need to be up extra-early, but forget to change the default tone, so I assume it's somebody ringing me drunkenly in the dead of night and either 'answer' or silence it.
