Gibberings CX: I feel all proud

Why do you still hang around with this lunatic Sam?

You'll learn what happens between a man and a woman one day, son. Sans-financial-transaction, I mean. ;)

And it ain't always as straightforward as it should be. Though I'd be lying if I said I haven't asked myself the same question. Many times.

If shes acting out though thats her problem isn't it? Try to detach from it. It works for me.. i'm around far too many difficult or neurotic people. Learning to avoid getting dragged into their drama has made life a lot easier and peaceful.

She's your ex for a reason.

Oh yeah, trust me - I was reminded of that today! :D

It's more complex than it sounds, we're still great friends and speaking purely for myself, 'over it'.

Unfortunately, being close to this woman involves being an outlet / target / scapegoat for all her bottled up frustrations and she's far too stubborn and wrapped up in her ego to see she could possibly be unresonable on occasion.

On the other hand, she's basically kept me alive for over a year, so she deserves a bit of understanding. She spent a lot of time in higher education, so her awakening to the shittiness of real life was somewhat delayed. The late twenties are difficult enough already without that. And that's without having been my girlfriend during a depressing time.

Though if she thinks ever she's pulling the same trick she pulled last week when I got talking / dancing with a girl, she can fuck right off.

She will. I think you probably even know she will.

I'll try and say it in less misogynistic language than Spade Sam but...seen it all before...head for the door marked exit...then again don't listen to some random on tinternet...live that pain for yourself. ;)

Honestly, the exit is all done. More or less.

I'll always be her friend though - we make each other laugh and there's genuine respect. She's just going through a phase that she'll regret once she finally gains some perpective. May well take her a while, but we're too close to just sever contact.

Well, a pleasant cup of coffee turned into ten minutes avoiding a grown woman's determined-yet-unsuccessful attempts to start an argument in the style of a surly teenager.

Apparently, offering a woman a valium when she's clearly in need of calming down is a 'misogynistic insult'. All this because of me turning up five minutes late.

Then a trip to my local Bass shandy stockist in order to draw breath. That's better.

I don't think it's a 'misogynistic insult' lol, but I can see how when someone is raging & you say "Would you like a valium?" it would make them more raging haha. It's not like you were actually just offering her some medicine, you were basically saying "Calm the fuck down ya mad nutter".

Edit - I'm about to defend Sam here (then go shoot myself in the kneecap) but ignore the fact this mad bird is his ex. She's basically his friend. Sometimes your friends act like dicks, sometimes they treat you like shit, sometimes they save your fucking arse when it's badly needed.

This.

Nah, she doesn't have another boyfried yet. Scarred for life and all that.

Don't you think it would be awkward?

I mean, what are you gonna feel like if/when she gets another bloke?
Would you feel comfortable having a new girlfriend around her?

Feelings will always be there with ex's. That's why you gotta move on or give it another shot.

The former being the obvious choice.

(We should have an EADD SLR forum).

Bit like yourself then?

He's only hanging out with her hoping that he'll get his hole.

Shoot me next Crackhead... I dont think he should ditch her either. She sounds like shes been his rock ffs and a superb friend. Just step away when she's going into one. Dont engage at all. If you can- say you'll speak later or come back later when she's feeling more reasonable ( say less stressed it doesnt sound so patronising).. Like I said..It really works.

All questions we'll deal with. We've watched each other flirt with other people and there hasn't been a problem, save for her brandy-fuelled jealousy last week.

I can see where you're coming from and in many situations it's the only solution, but our relationship was pretty idiosyncratic anyway, and we're far better friends than we were a couple.

She needs looking after too, and she doesn't let all that many people in.

YPDH - It's taken me a looooonnnng time to grasp this, but now I do just what you say - don't return any negativity and just arrange to meet another time. Thanks for the tip though. :)

To be fair, this is probably true.

Although I know a few folk who are good friends now (not in the psycho way that Sam & his bird seem to be right enough) that used to go out with each other for a fair length of time & now can hang out as if nothing happened, apart from the odd occasional wideo "Shut it, I've seen you in the scud!" type remark.

Saying that, the one particular bird I'm thinking of, her new boyfriend (not new anymore, he's mates with all of us now) didn't seem too chuffed when she was getting hit with patter like that. "Shut yer mouth *****, you're forgetting I've pumped you" or at least 4 of us at one point shouting she was going to molest children in her new job as a high school teacher. New b/f was sitting there looking pretty raging, he's used to our horrible chat now though & doesn't give a fuck or joins in.

Nah, it's not. Though she does have huge and amazing breasts which somehow still pass the pencil test.

Laziest woman in bed ever though. And besides; her vibrator doesn't listen to horrible music and demand a cup of tea afterwards.

Win / win.
