The owner of the famous anti-virus software, John McAfee is wanted for the murder of Gregory Viant Faull in San Pedro, Belize.
Faull was found on his property lying face up in a pool of blood, dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head. His body was discovered by his housekeeper who found Faull lying motionless in the homes hallway.
According to the head of the national police force’s Gang Supression Unit, McAfee is the prime suspect in the murder of the American expatriate. The motive is believed to be a dispute that involved dogs. Just last Wednesday Faull filed a formal complaint against McAfee with the mayor’s office, stating that McAfee had been firing off guns and was exhibiting “roguish behavior’.
The official police statement said Faull lived alone and there were no signs of forced entry into the home and a single Luger brand 9mm shell was found at the stairs leading to the upper flat of the building.
New sources had reported last week that McAfee’s behavior had becoming increasingly erratic and that he had by his own admission begun associating with some of Belize’s most notorious gangsters.
Over the course of two months, McAfee had been posting to drug-centric message board called Bluelight about his attempts to purify psychoactive compounds known as “bath salts”. Under the pseudonym of “stuffmonger” he posted:
“I’m a huge fan of MDPV. I think it’s the finest drug ever conceived, not just for the indescribable hypersexuality, but also for the smooth euphoria and mild comedown.”
MDPV was recently banned in the US but remains legal in Belize. The drug belongs to a class known as cathinones that are derived from the East African plant khat. Reportedly, it is a powerfully mind altering substance, comparable to methamphetamine. The drug can induce visual hallucinations and over prolonged use can cause mild to moderate paranoia. Individuals who use higher doses have a ten percent chance of remaining in a sustained psychotic state with anxiety lasting 3 to 7 days after dosing.
McAffee’s extensive use of the drug might explain his growing estrangement from his friends and the community around him. Also, based on his posts on Bluelight it could be inferred that he was also producing mass quantities of the chemicals, shedding light on his associations with hardened criminals. A well equipped chemistry lab was located in a remote corner of Belize belonging to McAfee, who had a longstanding interest in drugs that cause deviant behavior in women.
It is currently unknown whether or not there is a clear connection between McAfee’s addiction to the drug and the recent murder, this article will be updated as developments arise.
