Flags are flying at half mast in Westminster, in response to the death of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.

Apparently this is standard protocol, "when a monarch dies'.

Ahh.

A monarch who sanctions the beheadings of homosexuals, and the lashings of Internet bloggers.

A tv licence man came around. True story.

Just got dark. The owl in the tree was hooting...an awful lot.....To warn me of this shadowy figure(and he was) at the door. I've got no lights..no Bell (owl is new..what can I say he thought she was a mouse probs) ...anyway...KNOCK!!!KNOCK... I opened the door to the dark silohette.. 'Miss X' he asked.'why?' I replied. TV Licence.......

Such a barefaced lie it's ridiculous. Never heard of such a "protocol" before. Cos there isn't one. Just so much in hock to Saudi Arabia that it is deemed necessary. Fukkin disgusting. Low even by establishment standards :\
 
TV Licences: I no longer even get hassled cos you don't need one at all if you only watch TV online via catch-up services.

Oh it's certainly a joke. A very bad joke at that. But not in the sense you are meaning. A dictator died and our beloved monarchy decided to honour the occasion by flying the flag at half-mast. A thing they didn't even feel necessary when one of their own died.
 
Yea I met Princess Diana when was seven. We were doing gymnastic, nothing special, just kids special. I remember realising at that moment that princesses were not all frilly dresses as were the films, as of course she had a cream suit on. She never said much. Didn't shook hands with a smaller, more shyer girl, named Emma, but that was her.... I remember 1997.... Free From Desire was playing that summer, a major hit.... Bit I could never listen to that song again after Princess Diana's death, ever..... We watched her funeral on TV... 7 September... the fair was down n "Free from Desire," was on repeat that day... Never again, could I ever enjoy that song.....

Apart of the world was lost the day Princess Diana died.....

she might not be dead ...did you ever read about Louis the x??? of france?* He had two mistresses which he loved equally (allegedly) and couldn't bare to choose so they found a way of alternating the queen.... under all that Marie Antoinette hair and make up who would know? You could get a harem in one.

Maybe if she did pass she is still there somehow in frances heart as well as ours.

A part of the world is lost and reborn in other form every time anybody dies. Let's hope the atoms that made up King Abdullah are put to better work than brutal dictatorhisp and primary funding of Islamic Terrorism this time around.

As for Diana, her family estate was just up the road from where I lived at the time so all the local schoolkids had to go wave lil paper flags as her car drove by one day. This very brief encounter gave me no real insight into her as a person but she probably didn't deserve to be smashed to squishy bits in the back of a car. Then again, who does?

EDIT: I do believe Louis XXVI (? The Sun King anyway) kept his mistresses in the wing along the hall from his wife - just across the courtyard. He mostly shagged his mistresses but managed to face up to shagging his wife a couple times to produce heirs too I believe. Gotta <3 royalty.
