I used to like the christams breaks from Uni,

Bar Easter, Christmas was always the best time drugs wise... classes wound down before Xmas, so plenty of going out or staying in boshing drugs before coming back and starting the annual booze-fest that is Christmas. Kept up with meeting old mates from School for the first few years but there was always some sort of get together of folks & the odd New Years party.

In some ways, I miss all that but then again... these days just a quiet festive period is preferred. :D

yea im having a quiet christmas too, not too much family stuff going on and hopefully just some time to relax and work on my creative projects.

It'll be mostly family stuff for me but in my books, that is a quiet one! Plenty of time to do want I want, we don't keep a busy schedule for keeping us entertained or anything.

Cheers summer. I used to like the christams breaks from Uni, there was alwways some good 'catch up sessions' in my hometown & village with old friends who had gone to different unis, or moved away elsehwere for a job, and those most loyal of harcore locals that hadnt gone away and stayed on to work in the same area instead. Boxing Day was always the big reuinion day, when even the people who rarely went out in the area showed up.

Ahh problem is I have an extremely odd family situation so during any holiday I'm moving between places once a week at least so basically spend all my time sitting in my room wherever I am getting pissed and watching Supernatural. And err, sure I mentioned the 'drug situation' on here when it happened but basically last time I was staying at my mum's before I went back to uni I left for the weekend to meet a certain someone () and she found loads of drug shite in my room so I can't really get away with getting fucked on anything more than booze here anymore.

The reason I don't go out when I'm back at home is that basically my mum split up with her ex while I was still at college and moved to a new area while I stayed living with him so when I'm at my mum's now I've got no mates nearby cos I've never properly lived in the area. And when I'm at her ex's I've got no mates I can be bothered seeing anyway because I kinda drifted away from everyone I used to know as soon as I went to uni and started actually having a life so yeah. Fucking boring and boring areas anyway so even if I took myself out I'd have nowhere good to go which is one of the big differences from when I'm at uni.

So blah blah moan moan sure I'll be able to get away with getting high on something and I'm spending as little time here as I can anyway. The 'big days' will be fun an' all, just need to drink and sniff my way through the tedium of the ones in between

I live in a town where i dont know anyone anymore, my mates all moved away, so solitary christmas for me too. Family going abroad so im on my own, no uni til end of january so a few weeks of time to myself i guess

Also got my first xmas card addressed with what will be my married name so that was an odd feeling, nice tho!

What's the protocol for addressing correspondence to you both? Does one person take priority, or is that entirely up to the sender to decide?

My mum (who is a widow) got a christmas card the other day addressed to "Mrs A Lastname", where "A" is my deceased father's initial, and "Lastname" is their last name. Seemed a bit odd and old fashioned, but apparently technically correct.

Aye it was Fuck knows what the protocol is haha, I guess it's up to the sender! This was from her nan, so it was my missus name, my name, her surname. My Grandma still gets letters addressed similarly to your mum's, never been up on letter writing etiquette meself.

This onscreen keyboard is long, am typing at a rate slightly faster than my mother can, which is a significant loss on my part. Think I have a genetic predisposition toward spilling beer on stuff.

The new protocol is probably that there's no protocol. I just know that if I ever send you anything again (such as a vintage PS game ), your name will go first. So I've probably answered my own question.

Got my family xmas survival kit sorted out now. Going to take 50 etiz and couple of bags of gear with me for the few days i will be staying with them. Only problem i can forsee is finding somewhere that i can enjoy a toot in a non smoking household. Should numb me to all yhe usual family politics bullshit
