Well it has to be better than soul-destroying work in a very corporate office, no? ;)

(But I'm buggered if I'm taking up games like COD or Halo.)

Well, similar thing really. Except in a corporate environment you can theoretically (if not always actually) get people fired for the sexual harrassment, and it's not the name of the game, so to speak. And nobody's mother interrupts the proceedings with tea and scones.

it's mostly League of Legends, counter strike:go and dota2. Those are the main games now days. tbh i think they are 'ok' I don't think they are anything new in gaming, i like older games better.

Teheh, the clubnight I was at on Saturday had load of old consoles.. so I spent a fair portion of the night playing Micro Machines and House of the Dead. Much more my cuppa tea. (And also, why does every clubnight not do this?)

4real. i love old console games ha. never played house of dead though.

i think i mostly played ps1 around that era

Yeah, it was a proper old arcade House of the Dead too, with guns and everything. Was a lot of fun until my tripping mate decided he wasn't too keen on the zombie bats and we had to leave it. =D

I've mostly been a MegaDrive/PS1 fan, yep. New-fangled stuff doesn't often really do it for me.

back from another trip to the drugs counsellor starting to get somewhere with the mental health team at last hopefully next week i will have an appointment sorted out with them
she wasnt to happy that i hadn't told her about my fit the other week though even though i don't see what it had to do with her really she already made it clear that she doesn't expect me to stop in one go but never mind its the mental health lot thats more important at the minute

Scandal. The only thing I ever liked about Christmas Days of old.

Surely there will still be other chocolate coins? I certainly don't ever remember getting Cadbury's branded chocolate coins, ours probably came from Aldi.

Aye, that's a fair point, but it's Cadbury's we're talking about. An iconic British brand with lots of nostalgic cultural capital. It makes all the difference, see? :D

I think my chocolate coins as a kid were from M&S. Aldi didn't exist over here when I was little, and my mother refused to shop in places like Tesco, just so she could feel superior to the neighbours on the shithole street on which we lived. Yeah...

This was the technique I described to someone looking to obtain funding for a perpetual motion machine they wanted to build:
  1. Begin with a £10 note.
  2. Go to amusement arcade and change note for coins.
  3. Go to bank and change coins for note.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have enough money to build a working perpetual motion machine.

@FG
thats a step in the right direction seeing a councllor tell them everything and take their advice.
Good luck mate

thank you acieed_ed been 4 times now not sure what i think of it she seems a little out of her depth with research chemicals but then so does every professional ive spoken to at least its getting me in touch with the mental health team instead of me having to go through the totally clean for a month root this way

^^ I had to explain what Xanax was to a drug counsellor not that long ago ...FFS

yeah, they all seem out of their depth with anything but the most common of substances unfortunatelty. If you are very lucky you might be assigned a mental health worker who also knows about substance misuse, but these seem to be rare than hens teeth, so you can end up with about 4-5 different workers, each approaching things from their own angle. There's a bit of "that not my job - its her job" that goes on then, and that gets a bit annoying, but otherwise its definately more wothwhile going than not going.

I had to explain what the Ashton method was to my K/W and my mental health worker not so long ago. I couldnt believe it. Nor a few weeks later when they started telling me about it as if it was something they knew about all along.

FG your mental health is key to a lot of things cant you ask them for an anti psychotic to help manage paranoid or unwanted thoughts i get thorazine/largacti5 take it at night for paranoia anxiety and sleep it works wonders

To be fair it's not been bout their knowledge IME, it's far more down to a genuine want and skill at providing help and support.

The one that knew seemingly little about very much at all was also the worst one I've ever seen, the next one was a 100 times better but our conversation was 10% drugs and 90% about making things better.

edit - Fuck Chlorpromazine (thorazine) unless you really feel you need such a thing, it might be a short term fix but even at low doses it lives up to its reputation as a 'chemical cosh' IME

A short term fix (chemical cosh) maybe doesn't sound all that unwise here? Perhaps not thorazine but another cleaner (atypical) antipsychotic, plus an antidepressant, plus also an anxiolytic like Lyrica or another benzo-ish relaxant drug.
Sounds like alot but may be justified if it helps curb the destructive RC habit and the worst of the depression/suicidality. Although, I am not a psychiatrist (IANAP).

To be fair, it isn't available on the NHS and isn't a popular street drug, so I'm not all that surprised.

This.

I'd be very surprised if FG doesn't end up being prescribed an antipsychotic in the short term at least, and to be honest I think he could benefit from it.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for benzos, however.

I have one. She's amazing.

I went through three other psychiatrists to get her, but she's really on the ball.
