Eve - Opiates are not as easy to find as you expect (not OTC). Yeah weed, hash etc are legal to find but even buying a bottle of vodka takes some planning (not available in the supermarkets etc) and only available in the liquor stores. 'Cocaine' was pushed onto you where ever you went by the 'psst' guys (looky looky) - never heard pills / ket being mentioned but were readily available if you asked :D

(actually i used to spend fortunes on vinyl (new and second hand) in my teens - did tail off when other things became more pressing admittedly :o)

Not kidding that much of what I now have I really did buy (and sell, and buy back, and sell, and...). Cash Converters sell CDs for next to nothing and they all count as legitimate sales as far as I'm concerned for the purposes of my above argument :D

You're actually almost spot on with the 5000 too - hours not albums but works out more or less the same.

I've spent quite a lot of time in the Netherlands, very little of it in Amsterdam and even less of that for reasons other than work but the general idea that it's a more liberal culture just isn't the case IME.

Cannabis is the exception and just reflects a bit of pragmatism at some stage ( I'm no expert on how they came to have such an approach ) in general I found the culture less liberal and more racist and prudish than the UK but that may just have been my experience.

Jealous... I would love to go there just to smoke some White Widow... mind you, I'm not sure how one would find it since I believe tourists can't buy from 'coffee shops'.

P.S. - I know someone who did that & went out on a pedalo. :D (wonder if dangerous pedalo-ing is an offence)

I've smoked white widow in Amsterdam and I wouldn't say it's worth getting on a plane for. Walking into what might as well be a bar, or a cafe, buying some weed and a drink (you can't buy booze in the same place right enough, but you can smoke in a lot of bars) then sitting down and skinning up like it's perfectly fucking normal (which it is), is what's worth travelling to Amsterdam for. The actual quality of the weed itself? I'm sure you could get weed that good here without too much effort.
 
They kicked that idea into the long grass, or at least delayed it. I went a couple of months ago and could buy anything up to 5g,
 
Because people can't read? You can definitely still buy from coffeeshops. There are far nicer strains than WW out there though. I can't wait to go back.. have only been once this year so far. Group holiday anyone? =D

(I think the more sober I get, the shorter my sentences become.. at this rate I'll be posting one-word responses soon.)

Man I loved WW... such a creamy smoke. I was actually using a little hash in the joint too though. If there are far nicer strains to be found there, sign me up!
 
You could buy in coffee shops in December when i was there last. They keep saying this but it hasnt materialised.

Dont ever try the strain crystal, its hideous. Half a joints enough to send you back to your hotel room green in the face.
 
would ecstasy be easier to obtain in the netherlands? not so easy where I am or its bunk
 
I find it easier and more trustworthy in brussels for pills and crystal, but i guess it depends if you no anyone maybe. Only ever took pills once in amsterdam, tested these iron crosses and they were fine, took one it was so weak threw the other one away. tourist trap shit. found ourselves down some side street haggling with some dodgy blokes who was trying to sell us rolexs once to, dont even go there unless you no people or u get lucky imo.
 
You can buy White Widow over the counter in a few shops - Not sure why but I didn't take any photos of the menus ?

Sghouston5 - MDMA is available in Amsterdam, the same applies to pills (check Pillreports). FWIW dealers are not sitting on the corners offering 'gold bars' or 'dominoes' etc - if your not testing your as likely to be sold duds as you were at home.

Actually, it was supposed to go into effect nationally. The four big cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague) simply told the national government they wouldn't implement said policy.
Having lived most of my life in Amsterdam I do find it kind of silly/ dissapointing that the only things people from abroad (looking at you Brits) judge the city and its inhabitants by is how liberal we are supposed to be and how easy it is to score/ get fucked. Amsterdam really is quite a unique place with a lot of history and culture but most people couldn't care less and only want to know where the nearest coffeeshop is :p
