Only according to Situationist principles, an environment which necessitates the use (or ideally the ownership) of a motor vehicle in order to get from A to B is ultimately alienating in itself, as an example of how the primacy of industrial / commercial space shapes the day-to-day experience (and therefore the psyche, if you can stomach such a word) of the city dweller.

Ever walked through a city's financial district on a Sunday? Quite an experience.
See, I think I get it, and it seems, basically, to be Luddite and romanticist. Like, is the problem with just there being cities? Is that alienating? Couldn't one say that agriculture is dehumanising and alienating in the same way? The more I try to consider it, the less I think I understand. I'm not well versed in Marxism. or any other post-Hegelian thought, so all this stuff is pretty tough for me.

No, no, not at all! Romanticist, possibly, but not in the sense of the contemporary pejorative usage of the word.

It's about reimagining the city as something other than a space domesticated by capitalism. And stuff.

Isn't a post-industrial city by its very nature dominated by capitalism, or at least the economy? Was a worker any less alienated in Leningrad? I think I appreciate some of the things, about reclaiming a shared space, and think they're worthy, but as I'm sure you can tell, I don't think I'm quite getting to grips with the idea in its totality.

What's Leningrad got to do with it? :D

I'd imagine the worker in Leningrad was extremely alienated, aye. As much, if not more so than our teamster in LA.

When I use the word 'capitalism', it's misleading; what I mean is the modern technical / consumer society, as exemplified by communism as well as capitalism.

PS: 95% of Situationists haven't quite got to grips with the idea in its totality (I think it's actually impossible to do so), so don't worry.

Just did another 50 mgs of AH, went to pay my car insurance then treated myself to McDonalds, they have the Big Tasty again, had one with extra bacon and two portions of mozzarella sticks, nearly had an accident as I was eating while driving and dropped barbecue sauce on my trousers, got distracted didn't see this truck cutting in front of me, managed to avoid the bastard at the last second.

you will find with drugs workers etc that its best to phone them up and check its still on before each and every appointment, ive turned up a few times for an appointments i knoiw damn well theyve made and no one takes responsibilty of informing the client if its been cancelled or the worker just didnt put it in their diary or something.

classic accident scenario, something unexpected happens whilst you are momentarily distracted. Ive had a few near misses as well as a few totalled to destruction cars, rolled them off the road etc.

This brings back memories Shammy =D <3
Nice weather for the first time in about a month, what a great change. How are you doing today? :)

Ha! Yes it does, but am somewhat surprised you remember any of it, m'dear =D<3

Weather turned all grey, chilly and drizzly not long after I got back from town. I got the sunny bit but washing didn't quite and had to get brought in sharpish when Welsh Wales remembered that it's actually still winter 8)

Other than that, doing okay today thankee kindlee :)

Odd mixture of tired and perky. Am having another reduced booze/no smoking kick and think body is a tad confused. Maybe if I were to actually stick to it it'd eventually become less confused and just stick with the perky bit. One can but hope :D

Did your script come through today? Feeling better? Looking more cheery if the smileys are anything to go by anyway :D

Exact same thing happened to me today.
My keyworker was due to come to mine at 9am but didn't show up so I texted her and now got next appt on the 18th,no explanation as to why she didn't come around.
Thankfully I didn't waste any cash going down to see her at the office.

The annoying thing is that if it was you that didn't turn up to an appt and didn't inform them they they would want to bollock you for it but it's fine for them to do it.

true and ive got sod all money as it is just tried to sort this benefits affiance out cant do that at the minute and cant be arsed now so going to have to get up at 7am just so i can ring them in the morning

An apparent sighting of a six-foot crocodile in Bristol has sparked all manner of speculation in the city.

The intrigue began on Monday when Nick Gargan, chief constable of Avon and Somerset Police, said on Twitter: “One of our officers was flagged down by a bus driver today, claiming to have seen a 6ft crocodile under Coronation Bridge. We can't find it.”

When questioned by one concerned tweeter, Gargan added: “No need to stay indoors – but you may want to think twice before you go water-skiing.”

Police continued their search for the creature today dressed in full riot gear and a second reported sighting today has prompted more theories as to how the creature could have made it into the area.

A police spokesman told the Western Daily Press that the force had carried out a search but found no evidence of the crocodile.

He said: “We were called at 10.28am on Monday, February 3, to reports of a crocodile sighted on Bedminster Bridge. We checked with Bristol Zoo and we were able to establish that they had not lost a crocodile.”

With the local zoo ruled out, some pointed fingers at a crew who were in the area making Hatching – a horror film about crocodiles on the loose in the Somerset Levels.

Despite the coincidence, the makers of the film strongly denied that they had anything to do with the sightings, even if it did appear to be a “marketing gift” for the production.

In a statement published in the Guardian, Aria Das Neves, the film's animal trainer, said: “We have no reason to believe any of the animals used in The Hatching did not make it back home safely. Whilst we can confirm we did film with live crocodiles I have contacted the relevant holding zoos and they confirm that all our crocodiles are accounted for.”

While the mystery continues, a Twitter account has inevitably popped up for the rogue reptile.

if in bristol watch out for it :)

That bike is class and the outfit finishes it off lovely.
So wouldn't want him to be related to me though.

I believe the gentleman in the photograph has consumed recreational drugs at some point in his life. I would bet money on it.
