Gibberings CLVI: Back to the Future

What are you talking about? Gibberings HAS lots of traffic I can't keep up. And there are lots of thread with new posts to them on EADD. I know because I clicked "automatically subscribe to threads I post in." And there is traffic daily. If people think that way then of course there wont be traffic so why don't we ask who does do that n try to create posts to see if we can not improve things?

Nothing in life comes for free. If people are worried that EADD is dying then maybe we ought to team up n figure ways of turning it around rather than mopping.

What threads/discuussions could be created to attract people?
What threads/ discussions were around before it went quiet - have these discussions dried up n if so, could we re-introduce them?
If anyone is intouch with people who no longer could here could you ask them why is this n what could be do to improve things?

For example, maybe a drug-free thread for people taking a break / overcoming addiction. Something like this thread but without the drug talk. Before anyone says it's a drug forum, this is done in other sub-forums n works.

Only suggestion I'm throwing out there. I don't wish to step on anyone's toes as I'm new to EADD n really don't want to annoy regulars.

So what do you think??????

Evey :)

I get what you're saying in some respects it is. But you don't get banned as easily you can talk about things with being told to stfu or you'll be banned, that sort thing (not critising BL over just saying that it •may" be a reason why a person would choose Facebook over a moderated forum (any forum not just Bluelight).

A moderator on BL wouldn't be saying 'STFU or you'll be banned' tho, that would be a poster, and we're talking about Moderating. And if a Moderater has said that to you then they're not performing their job properly and that can be addressed.

Posters are sometimes abusive here, but they have no power to moderate you (and you can put that poster on ignore). Posters can be abusive on facebook too

It's picked up recently, that's true.

There are a few reasons for us seeing lower traffic. FB is only one of them. We had several very active members die last year. Active members make everyone else active because there's something to read and respond to. That's a particularly selfish way of looking at these deaths but it's true.

People dying makes the people who are left a bit miserable. I think some other active members have stopped logging on because they found it all too depressing, which is quite understandable. I know I found it depressing.

We do have threads with not much drug talk (although it's not actually banned in any threads). We actually have a thread for people who are not taking drugs - the drug sabbatical thread. But we don't actually ban drug talk in it. (by the way have you looked at the thread index? that thread is linked right at the top with the words "SOBER? CLICK HERE!" in massive green text ;) )

I'm not totally against a no-drug-talk Gibberings but I'm not particularly for it either :) As soon as you introduce new rules it means we moderators have to do more work, and people get pissed off at rules. For example, a no-drug-talk thread is an open invitation for people to post about drugs just to get a reaction from the people who are using it to avoid drug talk. So it would need to be actively moderated. Plus it would be a bit confusing because people wouldn't know where to go to for their gibberings, I mean if I want to talk or read random chat I come in here, would I also have to check the no-drug-talk gibberings in case I missed some particularly juicy gibberings? Obviously I would because I'm a moderator but you know what I mean.

Sorry - to be fair I did not mean it literal that they said "stfu or you'll be banned" but basically that's what they have meant. Thee has been a few times I've frustrated over something n because a moderator doesn't want to discuss it further (not on EADD) they have threatened to ban me if I continue. On Facebook I, and others, can let out frustration until its out without that. I'm using this as an example, not complaining :) it may be a reason why members prefer Facebook. I love the mods in EADD because they discuss things like adults they don't "boss" you around.

I'm only a casual poster/browser of EADD, but I think it's sad some of the regular posters don't post on the regular here. I know I used to look out for posters like PTCH and Mailmonkey, as well as Mugz (RIP), they really contributed to the forum

What? I guess it all depends on what're you used to, I think EADD is generally dead, seriously a lot of times I check it in the morning and from half page all the way down no thread has had new posts, sometimes you check the Gibberings and it only has a couple of pages added, sometimes not even that, just a dozen posts maybe.

Back on Totse we would have social threads that got to 40 pages within a couple of hours, if you refreshed the page of the Spurious Generalities sub-forum you'd have every single thread having new posts, every five minutes.

Other forums I frequent or used to frequent like Militaryphotos.net also have incredibly active threads.

On occasions we do have some traffic in the Gibberings thread but not much at all, rarely I've seen more than ten pages added to thread over night, and that's nothing compared to other forums.

I have to say all this talk about EADD being dead is generating a lot of discussion...

EADD will only be well and truly dead when we can't have this discussion any more.

We need better drugs. Well, I don't as I've just hit lucky but generally the better, purer our drugs are, the more action there is on EADD.

We need a combination of shit-hot MDMA, pre-ban meph and tan PV. Alright, any PV. A massive heroin drought helped too. And if people were allowed to actually have some cocaine in their cocaine I'm sure there would be a rise in traffic.

I think probably the more accessible the drugs are, the more drug talk? I would think with that satiny pathway dying a death, that might impact on people.

Fuck me, just got around to trying dmt. Didn't get a proper breakthrough but the body high was completely unexpected. (Which is probably the sort of unexpected thing that I should have expected. 8)) Anyway, weed and Monster Magnet and <3

Maybe a topic of the day? Sunday can be masturbation day, just recently having cleaned up my man sap and shaking my head at the morally questionable porn I was watching. It was the release I was looking for after today, after no sleep and a 11 hour sunday shift a got called a "dumb freaking idiot who will only ever work in a shop because my brain dosent work properly" to be fair she ive had better insults from 7 year olds. I told her she should go and tell someone who cares, and was dragged out the shop by her sheepish husband.

Or maybe a mdma drought.

2009 was where it was at Swampy, before your time. When Mephedrone megathreads lasted about three days. I think we had 18, which means 18000 posts, in a year. Just on mephedrone. Sanity personified.

I wasn't meaning that EADD is actually dead - just that it's certainly not as busy and vibrant as it once was. That's not to say it was necessarily better in every way back then - I think there have been lots of improvements over the years. There's always been a mixture of drug/HR info and social stuff and it's the social side that really dropped off. Probably another reason why I tend to associate it with the popularity of FB cos it obviously does the social stuff with knobs on. I think the greater emphasis on HR is great but I'd hate to see the social side die off too much.

Not that I'm saying it is cos - as noted - there's still plenty peeps around being sociable. I think SHM is on to something when he mentions how differing drug trends affect the place. There was a glut of MDMA and psyches around when I first started posting here regularly and it kinda stands to reason that lotsa party drugs make for lotsa social posting. And there's also the inherent effect of drugs like MDMA and meph that makes people bond and feel a certain connection. And, of course, the usual rosy-tinted effect must be involved.

Just to be clear, I am not complaining about anything - and not suggesting that EADD is dying on its arse - just pontificating with a dash of added FB bashing is all.

I think it's good as it is personally. Why would you want 10 pages added over night. That's a lot of reading for the moderators n they're gotta check other threads too.

Knock. I'm so very sorry that EADD has had a lot of people who have passed away. I cant imagine what you've all been through xxxx

Funnily enough, Sunday is porn day in one of my more dubious Facebook groups.

I still read it, I was a long-time lurker. =D

Sunday for us is lying on the sofa in our knickers, watching music doco's or sexy European soft porn television until we end up fucking.

It may or may not coincide with the kids being picked up

"no-drug-talk Gibberings"

Thats so fucking stupid it spins my brain

SHM i remember that, oooohhhh the good old meph days

Well in Other Drugs they have 'no-gibberings drug-talk'. Why not a 'no-drug-talk Gibberings'.
