Gibberings CLVI: Back to the Future

Congrats BCF.

So after working fairly hard last night to finish my dissertation presentation, I went home, popped an etiz to help me sleep, then slept through the presentation. So thats 10% of my dissertation mark gone.

Fuck this shit. Tommorow, I'm going to write a plan of how to sort my life out. Identifying what I want from life, what oppurtunites I currently have available to me, and what I need to change in order to achieve my goals. Tired of being a fuck up, I don't even feel that depressed anymore so I can't use that as an excuse.

Erm it's not. But when somebody is on a daily script longterm it's not quite the same as a one-off incident. I certainly can't talk cos I drink way too much with or without script, but I'm sure Evey knows her limits. Hope so anyway cos we all know downer combos can turn very bad indeed :\

yeah just doing my little bit for HR, even if it may have sounded patronising, and was so obvious it didnt even need saying. If anything bad did happen Id have trouble dealing with the fact that i should have said something, no matter how obvious or unneccesary it might have been. ;)

I drank heavily and took benzos with bupe, and never encountered much in the way of respiratory depression, to be honest. Whereas with heroin, even moderate amounts of drink and benzos can sometimes make me wake up feeling breathless and fortunate.

It's NOT a good idea though, Eve.

I wasn't criticising at all. We should all be pointing out that kinda thing - HR, innit. We've lost far too many to downer combos. Unfortunately I suspect that people who spend so much time hanging around an internet forum talking about drugs are probably the types of users who tend to be at the more extreme end of the usage spectrum for the most part. We all know the downer combo issue, doesn't mean we're all so good at doing the right thing, unfortunately :\

It's always worth reminding people though no matter how experienced they are cos all experience in the world won't make your heart keep beating and your lungs keep inflating if you push it just that tiny bit too far :|

That and it's not only us who read this stuff - even Gibberings :D - and you never know who might be reading at that moment or what they do or don't know. Always better to speak up than wish you had if something ever did happen.

Brimz: Good call: Lee Perry + Mad Proffessor = <3

This is gibberings, after all.

Managed to get that "... need to wait xx seconds before you can post" message. Always a sign that gibberings are in full swing :D

(only one second on the clock though. if it's not still up around the 40-50 second mark it's just slacking really)

Lol i aint one to do a dan (lol) but gotta stick this tune up, been goin thru me head all day

Wickedsquad - No Police ft. Ragga Twins

Jungletek mashup of a classic raggatwins track

Woop woop we dont respeck police :D

don't usually like jungletek, or any of the 'tekno' genres, was my biggest problem with the freeparty I went too, but that track was sweet.

Calling Mancunians. Anyone know the edge of Moss Side/Hulme? I'm being told it was full of shootings a few years ago but has quietened down considerably. Is this true?

yep, stones throw away from me. The estate at the end of my road had armed drugs gangs, and a nearby road was nototious for street dealers. Firearms offences have been reduced to like 1 or 0 over the last couple of years, that has totally changed as the number of firearms incidents used to be very high.

On one notorious road i was stopped at traffic lights and saw a gang walking extremely menacingly doiwn the middle of the road. They were on a mission and no mistake. The mission was to beat the shit out of a woman/girl sitting in the back seat of a car.

It used to be the Gooch Close (Moss Side) gang vs a rival gang from longsight. They carried on their gun fight in Manchesters Royal Infirmary where some gang member was being treated. I never had any interactions with any part of that scene.

always heard rumors about Moss Side, apparently during the 90's it was the only place in the UK nearly as bad as the American 'ghettos'.

Haha i know what you mean, that track is generally always blasted while the filth are trying to shutdown the parties :D

Cheers max :D yea man proper result!

Depends which edge really.

Though I lived right where Old Trafford meets Moss Side and Hulme, a two minute walk from the 'legendary' Alexandra Park Estate, and though there were lots of kids on bikes, I was never so much as talked to out of turn the whole time.

It can get more sketchy toward the Whalley Range border, but I took a four hour wander through there after a club on Bromo and MDMA, skinned up with some yooves and got home without a scratch.

There are problems, yeah. Not half as many as you'd be led to believe though. You generally have more trouble there if you're a young black man, unfortunately.

i think there was some sensationalist reporting about the whole thing. I feel safer in Moss Side than i do in other parts of town. I dunno why but i just have lots of respect for black people so i have almost never had any trouble from them.

i lived in whalley range overlooking the park for a number of years. There was a lot of action there. Youths used to drop off stolen cars they had been joyriding in at the park gates, and then split an scatter running off through the park. Also so many smash and grab and run thefts from fools who'd left valuables on display in their cars.

My very first gf went to uni in Manc (or was it Salford? sure it was in Salford but still called Manchester but was a long time ago - sure the natives will know where I mean). She often walked home at silly o'clock through Moss Side - on her own or with friends - and said she never had a problem and, once she'd gotten used to the idea of wandering through that self same Moss Side that was all over the media at the time (early-mid 90s) she felt safe too. Again. not much use or relevance to your actual question, SHM, but heyho.
