my cat has developed a hacking cough which takes place once or twice a day. She crouches, as if she is going to bring up a furball, but nothing ever comes up. She had a tumour removed from her neck a few months ago (£300). I am worried that the tumour was in fact an expression of a more serious cancer in her lungs.

It upset me when she goes into these coughing fits, which last about for about a minute. After she's stopped, she's back to normal. But they seem to be happening with increasing frequency,

Does anyone have any expeience of this? My gut feel is she's got cat leukaemia or some lung cancer, but I don't really know anything about it.

What should I do? She struggles when I try to fliush her down the toilet and gives me painful scratches. JOKE. I have not tried to flush her down the toilet, that would be obscene. Yeah, I should take her to the vet, but I guess the vet will say she may need put down. Maybe I'm over-reacting. Has anyone else experienced this sort of feline behaviour? In a cat of course. If you do this, then you should see your doctor :)
 
Cut off her bell, drive her out into the country and give her free reign to hunt and kill before she becomes too weak to enjoy the life of a real animal.
