Heh. My username is a dragon from Pratchett's Discworld books, so.. only geeky connotations there.

Is it?!? Blimey my memory is shonky. I read (almost) all of the Discworld novels a while back (MamaSham's a big fan and loaned me her collection) so really should've known that cos I bloody loved 'em. Well, I say a while back - was quite a while back really and not read any since (I vaguely recall that Hogfather was the last and most recent one I've read and am sure there are a few prior to that I missed plus all the ones since). Fine taste in books you have there =D

Hehe same here, read a hefty chunk of the discworld series. Used to read loads as a kid, no more unfortunately. Can't remember a swampy dragon reference but barely remember any of it.

Rincewind, Cut-Me-Own-Throat-Dibbler, Mort, the witches, the suitcase. Can't remember much more. What was the Death character called? Was it just Death? Iirc he had a special way of displaying Death's speech on the page.

Monstrous Regiment was a good book as well but not sure if it was part of his discworld series.

PS fair doos closing the SR thread knock, you put up with a lot of hassle

First time I came across that character I really did lol. Extensively. Probably far more than it actually deserves. It really did tickle me immensely for some reason though. And I guess that means that Swampy, yourself, and any other Discworld fans may have spotted where I get my 'inna' (in a) 'onna' (on a) and the like from. It's a sausage inna bun, innit :D

Not read that (or any of his non-Discworld books) but did like the graphic novel(s?) and related artwork/general background stuffs books that MamaSham has.

Truthquoted.

Literally the only artwork I've seen related to the discworld is on the book covers. The pic of the elephants on the turtle as well ofc =D

The other stuff of his I've read are the gnome ones and Wee Free Men. Will have a look at the graphic novel, might inspire me to re-read the lot.

lol. I always thought it was a coincidence that you sometimes talk like Nanny Ogg. =D

Erm.. yeah, I thought there'd be a Wiki page on Discworld dragons somewhere - http://wiki.lspace.org/mediawiki/index.php/Swamp_dragon .. I haven't read any of the books in a looong time, though. I need to catch up on the recent-ish ones.

i'm not sure what it is.

But when I read discworld novels now, I see a mild psychedelic influence. I don't know, something about how the whole world exists on the back on a giant cosmic turtle. Probably just me reading too much into it though.

...something about how the whole world exists on the back on a giant cosmic turtle.

This was presumably based on the (in)famous tale which came out of some kinda scientific public talk/lecture/presentation (can't recall who was speaking but is a very well-known story and should be easy enough to track down - it's related in virtually every popular physics book I've read) many years ago. The talk was on the universe in general (or some kinda astronomical bizniz anyway) and afterwards a lil old lady came up to the speaker (a well-known scientist of yesteryear whose name escapes me) and thanks him for such a fascinating talk but then goes on to tell him that he's mistaken because, in fact, the world sits on the back of a giant turtle supported by elephants. The scientist asked her "Madam, what is it that supports the turtle?" to which she replies "You can't fool me - it's turtles all the way down!". That's the gist of it anyway and did actually happen. Who the lady was and where she got this idea from nobody knows but is a belter of a tale all the same :D

At first i really hated the new female presenter that has taken over from Ranvir Singh as i thought Ranvir was really hot, and this new one seemed to think she was sexy as fuck when she isnt atall, but she is annoyingly starting to grow on me, and the new guy that took over from gordon burns is good, very proffessional. I thought they were gonna give the job to tony livesy at first, i really like him, but hes gone on to bigger and better things, getting regular slots on the one show now.

I loved Gordon Burns, it felt like I had grown up with that guy. I thought Ranvir wasn't bad looking, but wouldn't have her down as hot per se, certainly no Susanna Reid <3, now that's a woman worth waking up at 6 for!

Albion's in love and he's going fucking mental.

Can't sleep at night. Obsessed with checking facebook for updates and reading through chat logs. Recurring dreams about meeting the same girl multiple times, each with a different personality. Mood is entirely dependant on the quality of her interaction with me.

How do people cope? It's a fucking nightmare. I wish I was apathetic and able to cope with life again.

I'm sooooooooooooooo glad fekkin Facebook wasn't around when I was in my randy yoof stage. Would've absolutely killed me. I was bad enough as it was for hanging on the every interaction without the ability to stalk online :D

That aside, aww <3

there is nothing worse than having your ex's blog.

People don't properly blog anymore, they just post cryptic hints. So I'm sat there staring at it, trying to work out if she's fucked someone else. It seriously drove me up the wall, to the point where I was forced to just exercise some self discipline and stay off it. Did a whole world of good.

some of my exes on FB go back 20 years or so, they didnt really end on bad terms atall just that i was leaving for uni. The 2 i liked the most were both really really fit, something i failed to appreciate at the time. One is now happily married, the other seems to be struggling a bit. Ive messaged her a couple of times and shes allways been pleased to hear from me, we got on great all those years ago, i doubt it'd be the same now. Probably best to leave the past in the past soimetimes. :? Before FB none of this would even have been an option.

haha, great tho, isn't it?

RELISH the opportunity.

Like Shammy, I'm also glad I think Stalkerbook sucks bollocks

This is why I love being in love with someone who hates social interaction. Before we realised there was a mutual attraction I had no FB updates to stalk at all :D You cope, though. I'm slightly better at it now than I was in my early 20s but the odd text with no 'x' can still send me into a spiral of depression if I'm in the wrong frame of mind at the time. Don't worry it'll go before long :D And like Marmz says it can be enjoyable, at times.

I'm away to my parents today. Been super depressed and benzod the fuck up so hopefully will return feeling a little less wonky and wrong. Thought I was losing Mrs Snolls but that turned out to mostly be related to my comments above. Hence I wish to quit drinking and cut down benzos and get back on my bastard citalopram because it eliminates all the depression and paranoia and whatnot. Just the first few weeks of being on em is why I've been avoiding it.

You're not in love. You're infatuated. The two are almost indistinguishable when you're in the grip of the latter, but they ain't the same. Thank fuck.

That's not to say infatuation is any less 'real', or in any way 'inferior'; in fact it's a hell of a lot more fun and inspiring, and far less likely to leave you burned. Just try not to go overboard if you can. Maybe quit with the Facebook stuff too, although I find it's more likely to shatter any illusions you might have. YMMV.

It's still nonsense in the long run though.

Are Facebook updates considered to be social interaction these days? Fucking hell... 8(

Well done on snagging a non-Fartbooker though. Kudos.

I think she's referring more to the fact that if there were social interactions, pictures and stuff would be uploaded from the interaction, thus providing something to stalk over.

Aye, I know, but you're right, it doesn't make it any less real.

Quitting with the facebook stuff really isn't much of an option, as, in typical Albion fashion, I've gone for someone who lives far away (in fact they're from another part of Europe entirely this time). She's coming over to see London and stay with me in feb.
