i'd say the number is low because a very small percentage of the drug taking population would be taking heroin, crack or meth and most be taking weed, ecstasy and coke.

^Calm down he made a fair point, if you've never paid into the system nor are likely to ever will(so unlike a child who's a citizen who one day might pay taxes in the country) then you should not get services free of charge, that's all. It's not about denying them healthcare it's about stopping healthcare tourism, pregnant cows getting on a plane in Lagos to come to Europe and exploit our system and further put them under unecessary strain.

For free that's the key there, they should not be allowed on hospital premises unless they have proof of insurance and should be made to pay the full bill, no freebies for non-citizens

So only the wealthy should have decent natal care? If you're poor and you were born somewhere that's not got decent health care then tough luck?

Citizens? I'm a human being, my species is all over the planet and I don't see why someone in another country should have worse healthcare than me just because they were born in the wrong place.

I shouldn't even get involved in these debates, all I wanted to do was tell that over-excited guy to go easy on Dan, as I reckon he voiced a totally fair and understandable opinion, what I believe is irrelevant.

The Nigerian government, if not so corrupt and inept should have enough tax revenue through resource exploitation to provide all of its citizens with decent healthcare, you can't tranfer their problems here in Europe. Anyway, those who suffer from over-worked and strained social services are the poor, those who actually do need the NHS and can't afford private clinics.

Sorry I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. :) I agree it's an understandable opinion because the world has been divvied up into these different countries and and we are indoctrinated from the outset to see ourselves as belonging to a nation and somehow separate from the rest of the world. Never mind the internal divisions within our own nations.

I think healthcare should be better the world over. People shouldn't need to fly to Europe to give birth if that's what they're doing. But if they do, I can see that it's a person just doing what they can to help their child survive. Pretty natural behaviour. So I'm not going to get all indignant about someone doing that at "my expense" when I can be getting worked up about all the real injustices in the world, like wage labour, workfare, war, drug prohibition and the harm that causes, governments spying on people's communications etc.
