Gibberings CIX: Faulty 'y' key? Or just high?

Aye, it's a bit of a daft move to say "I've been applying for jobs but I don't have an up to date CV".

School-boy error if ever I've seen one.

I thought I was fucked for this weekend. I really want to go out & get wasted but I've got a £20 note & £30 available on my credit card. That doesn't fund my typical weekend. Moaning about this on Facebook & asking if anyone had anything cheap happening & my mate's just stuck £35 in my bank that he claims he owes me. I was eating his pills like Smarties on Sunday morning (because I knew he owed me money, but I was taking that as if every time I was taking 1 off him, I was taking a tenner off his debt, to the point where I thought I owed him money) but he's said not to be stupid & that I've gave him loads of free pills in the past so that doesn't count, in his eyes he still owed me money.

Jamming. Enough to get by this weekend & hopefully keep enough to get a wee bit of weed & manage to keep that so I can stay in next weekend. Then I've got Ivan Smagghe the following weekend & Pressure birthday the weekend after, I've already got tickets paid for both those nights & 2 giro days in between. YAS! As long as the cunts don't pap me off ESA soon then November is sorted.

Like I said, it's very wise not to get cocky re their current attitude, all sorts of different shit can be thrust upon thee in the Job Centre, so best to keep your wits about you and be on your toes.

What a shitty day for you maxalfie. The course will probably be generic skills based, yes? How to present yourself is normally a popular one, basic comms, positive thinking and such as well. Eh, it'll give you something to put on your weekly job search sheet thing tho, attended a course etc .. and give you something to blather about when you next sign on .. just how much more motivated you are since you went on it etc etc .. lol .. what a load of bollocks

iirc diclofenac was actually implicated in the deaths of large numbers of vultures in india, that had been feeding on carcasses of cattle which had been given diclofenac by vets.

Well TheSpade yr 2minute signing on theory went right out the window mate.
As soon as she found out I didn't have a up to date CV then that was it. She was straight on phone to another building and told me I had to go there right away.
I got there and there was about 8 of us in total. Ended up filling in loads of forms, doing maths and english tests and then being informed that I've now been signed up to a 2 day course starting on the 19th of this month.
Apparently at end of course we will have a certificate that will help us get a job.
I did say to the bloke that is a course that lasts in total for around 16 hours really gonna impress any employer at all, for which he didn't really have an answer.
All in all my initial appt with advisor started at 11.30am and I finally got out to head off home at 2pm.
Fucking glad I did have that valium now.

oh yeah, i had that one (similar too) didnt bring my cv with me. got told "it's mandatory" was told i must bring it next time.otherwise i'd be sanctionned, brought it with me the next time. bitch took it from me said"i'll photo copy that, it's on much nicer paper than ours so you can keep the nice one" without so much as checking that i'd spelt my name correctly on the cv she put the copied one in my file , told me to sign here and away i went :\

LOL. :D

How long have you been signing on for? Never been on any job centre course my self (just had to attend this presentation for an hour once) but I thought it took months of being signed on before they got to that stage. Why didn't you just lie and tell them you had a CV at home but hadn't brought it with you?

I've only been signing on since September so am not yet wise to all the tricks etc.
I got made redundant after being in my last job for 8 years and the job I had before that I worked at for 10 years, so I am not really wise yet as to what I should and shouldn't do and say, but I'm sure I will learn the way that it all works.

Well, if anyone needs a vulture killed I've got a few hundred of these fuckers lying about. I honestly don't think I've ever taken them. I can't find an open blister pack. I think they gave me them the same time as tramadol (plus I still had a load of 30mg cocos left) & they did the trick nicely so there was no need to take the other stuff.

it's illegal to do that with out your permission I think. They need your permission to be able to photocopy it, at least the employment tard groups do that the job centre send you to after 6 months unemployment. You can refuse them a photocopy too, without incurring sanctions. The employment places the job centre use just end up pimping it out to loads of places on line without your permission to where as well, and their data protection is poor as fuck

tough times out there, tough times.. and there'll be the staff laid off from comet just before christmas in there too

I disagree Sam.hes just regurgitating a deception about the Bible. If you look at Leviticus the laws were given to the Israelites. Eg Leviticus says: “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 1:2.. “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying...” Lev 4:2 etc etc.

Yes, but who were the 'Israelites'? They were the people who followed the cult of Yahweh - i.e. the entity you call 'God'. They were the forebears of both Jews and Samaritans, from whom another cult (Christianity) eventually emerged.

Molech was a rival deity worshipped by the Canaanites, and the Israelites simply wanted to invade Canaanite land. So Molech was demonised accordingly, just like Mohammed was during the Crusades centuries later.

Sorry, but I have read the Bible - I've read more of the Bible than most Christians. And that's the same excuse I've heard several times from those who want to sweep the more embarrassing parts of the Bible under the carpet.

Nowhere in the New Testament are those laws revoked. So essentially The Bible is homophobic. To quote the NT itself:

Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

And with that, can we agree to differ? :)

As a chronic insomniac I've had to refuse scripts for various ssri's from Dr's trying to convince me its depression that's stopping me sleeping.

Annoying, isn't it? One time a doctor gave me chlorpromazine! I almost lost my job as a result.

Oh, fuck me.

They'll have you singing "the wheels on the bus go round and round".

Just grit your teeth.

They really do make life very hard when you have to sign on don't they?
Unless you specifically ask them something you won't be told about it. There's nothing to let you know what they can and can't get away with doing to you. Obviously if you are unaware of all the rules and they turn around & say if you don't do this then your money will be stopped, then you are obviously gonna go along with what they tell you to do.
I wish there was some independant group that would publish a booklet for sale informing everyone of their rights and what the jobcentre and benefits agency can and cannot get away with.
I'd certainly buy it as you could get years worth of knowledge in the book that would take you a long time to learn yourself and save you from potential hardships.

You'd waste your money then. Whatever was written in that book would have changed by the time it was published, never mind by the time you bought it.

I guess you could be right. As long as they keep changing the benefits and rules it ensures we are all left in a state of confusion as to what's right & what's wrong.

and it's all designed to stop you appealing. there's different names for appeal, such as asking for a reconsideration. the forms, you don't have to use the forms they suggest to appeal, but i think you do for a recon. anyway, i had a reconsideration done, provided new info. told the decision makers in hanley had said no, but didn't tellme so in a direct way. went to appeal (1 month was nearly up) tod that it was only worth it if i had new info. i didn't have new info, but since i was appealing i could write in my own amount of space, not the miniscule box provided on their forms. i they did reverse their decision. all the tooing and froing and paying of hardship must have cost them much more than 65 pounds

^^ this. It's changed so much over the last few years, and keeps changing as new schemes get adopted.

The best place to look is on forums maxalfie ... I'm told the Urban75 Forums are decent for this ... they often discuss the little details that can catch you out with sanctions and whatever, and also inform about the little tricks like the CV photocopying I mentioned earlier as well as what you are entitled to refuse to do and what they can force you into.

this is their sub-forum for benefits and housing ← [edit]lots of Job Centre rants and info about appeals processes n stuff there atm.

The main forum is alright actually too, some pretty cool peeps on there

Also Blogspots are another great source of info, lots of people update those regularly, especially regarding new policies (and the problems and pitfalls of what comes with them) n whatnot
