Gibberings CIX: Faulty 'y' key? Or just high?

Well obviously it's none of my business, but it was obviously prescribed for a reason. Though you seem to know your stuff. It sucks that a lot of doctors seem to throw citalopram at everything - I don't think I've ever seen a citalopram success story first-hand.

My mate gave me a pill from his prescription and I was violently sick for hours.
 
Doctors get visits from drugs reps every month, giving them coffee mugs and staplers with the latest brand drug logo on them, each individual NHS trust has prescribing guidelines which doctors follow, SSRI's / SNRI's are considered 'front-line' treatments for depression, venlafaxine is the second favourite, studies have shown that basically none of these pills are better than the tricyclic imipramine developed in the 60's, they are supposed to be 'cleaner' drugs than imipramine with a better side effects profile but in my experience that is total bullshit nonsense.

yup, I've heard lots of similar stories Pink, particularly trying to sanction you for things they shouldn't be sanctioning for. It pays to read some of the forums where people share their horror stories in this area, and you can usually find a list of very specific details about what they can and can't sanction you for, often it's miniscule detail that determines whether they can and can't, and do or don't.

I can't remember the last time I had to sign on, think it was in 1998 when I was made redundant for a bit, but I'm friends with people who do, and sometimes help em a bit with it when they've needed it. luckily they're all pretty savvy and know the score and what the situation is with sanctions n whatnot
 
Job Center places can legitimately instill fear into even the toughest of souls on occasion Spade. If you've ever been involved in a fuck up with paperwork, or come into contact with a RoboCunt having a bad day and looking to show no mercy then it can be misery inducing. It can depend on a multitude of things in those places, from who you see and whether they're behind or whatnot, to just someone getting their arse kicked about targets. I know people who agree with you tho, regarding there being a bit of a general attitude shift towards backing off a bit, as my town has a much higher unemployment rate than the rest of the country too. But I wouldn't let your guard down or become complacent when visiting tbh, because that one time you go in ill prepaired might be the time they just step up a gear because they've got time to, or they've just had a staff meeting about targets or sticking to mandatory procedures or whatnot.

The worst that will happen is they'll tell me to expanded my job search or look harder, it's not like my JSA will suddenly be cut off because some cunts in a bad mood. I think I've to see an advisor next time I'm in actually, last time he said "I can't tell you to apply for jobs when there is none" and told me to sign my sheet and be on my way. Let's hope it's more of the same this time.

Just had my blood sugar tested and the result was 5.4, way better than I thought it would be considering beer consumption. I stopped drinking westons in favour of really good beer instead (and in less volumes than I had been drinking too), so that's probably been a plus.

I've been worrying a bit of diabetes recently and have cut back on cider, fizzy drinks and chocolate and I'm going to get mines tested too. Do you have to go to the docs? Someone told me you can buy a kit at the chemist and test yourself? I think mines is going to be quite high. :\

That's what I read while researching too. Citalopram seems to be effective with certain specific problems and for extreme depression, which I don't have. It certainly wont help with motivation imo. I think she prescribed it because it was one of the ones which didn't have the side effects of weight gain, and that's something she knows I want to avoid more than anything, so maybe that was why, as many ADs seem to be prone to it.

When you say nauseous Ceres/Sam, did it actually make you vomit or just feel sick?
 
Just made me feel sick, a friend of mine said the same thing after one dose, on the other hand I have a friend who was fine with citalopram and it helped them....

I recon the test I had today will most definitely be available from boots or whatever. It was just a prick on the finger and then she used a dipstick attached to a digital handheld machine and it instantly gave a result there and then.

You need to do it after fasting for 12 hours tho. But if you can't get one in Boots, just tell the Doc you're concerned about it and they'll give you one no hassle. Depending on your Docs, you could probably just ring and make an app with one of the practice diabetes nurses direct without even going to see your Doc beforehand

The doctor was chucking Citalopram at me constantly at one point. I never took them. Told him/her (it was always different doctors) that I wasn't going to take them etc. Then one time I go in & they hit me with some other AD (can't remember the name, sorry, began with an S) & said that they're now prescribing that instead because of "health concerns" with Citalopram. I asked what those concerns were, they couldn't give me an answer. I then mentioned that I had my own "health concerns" about Citalopram that first time they tried to give me it, so I won't be taking whatever this Citalopram Mk.2 is. That was just met with a blank stare.

I swear these GPs don't actually fucking know what they're prescribing half the time. For example, to hand me 200 Tramadol (& I picked up a repeat at least once) with no explanation whatsoever other than "This is stronger than the cocodamol you're on just now" is fucking irresponsible imo. If I didn't happen to be a member on here I'd have gubbed those tramadol like they any other OTC painkiller (ie, like Smarties), then went out on the swedge & would have ended up in hospital.

I disagree Sam.hes just regurgitating a deception about the Bible. If you look at Leviticus the laws were given to the Israelites. Eg Leviticus says: “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 1:2.. “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying...” Lev 4:2 etc etc.

The Israelites were about to enter a land ( Canaan) whos people worshipped a fertility God (Molech). Anal sex was used as a rite between men and women in front of the idols in public. It was those cultic acts that God found abominable.

Possibly seroxat, it's another popular one. GP's, dealing with mental health, basically operate on the advice of pharmaceutical companies who they themselves are responsible for saying their products work according to clinical trials they've performed themselves which are being more and more exposed as being flawed, nevermind the marketing campaigns etc. the whole thing is really shady.

diclofenac is an NSAID like ibuprofen, but a bit stronger.

I know a couple of people who've taken sertraline, one swears by it, the othe said it was like a shit e and gave him brain zaps.
 
As a chronic insomniac I've had to refuse scripts for various ssri's from Dr's trying to convince me its depression that's stopping me sleeping. I wouldn't touch any ssri with a barge cock! If they were so convinced it was depression related insomnia then why not suggest a tricyclic instead so it'd at least deal with the sleep issue as well, not once did that happen.
I swear the Dr's are on some kind of commision for flogging citalopram and fluoxetine etc.

I got up early to head down, like a sad bastard I am. Was fucking rammed, although not quite sure what I was expecting, wasn't exactly smash and grab. Can get most of the deals on ebay and other cheaper electrical websites, probably why they went to pot they overpriced everything when other websites where so much cheaper.
 
i'm gonna take sams advice and see more sunsets. the thing with gear is it makes me sleep loads and makes me really lazy. yes it is a lovely feeling but i'm bored of conking out every night and waking wanting to conk out some more. day off work and i feel like shit coz i got up too late and therefore had to get some gear. im taking my meths before i go to bed tonight. the other day i felt in a state of perfection as i went about my business just the right warmth and mellowness. if i could just get that right every day i would be a very happy person. and i mean get that normal feeling every day without having to get more than i need spending more money than i should and just get on with life without the fear of a rattle and the rest......
 
Well TheSpade yr 2minute signing on theory went right out the window mate.
As soon as she found out I didn't have a up to date CV then that was it. She was straight on phone to another building and told me I had to go there right away.
I got there and there was about 8 of us in total. Ended up filling in loads of forms, doing maths and english tests and then being informed that I've now been signed up to a 2 day course starting on the 19th of this month.
Apparently at end of course we will have a certificate that will help us get a job.
I did say to the bloke that is a course that lasts in total for around 16 hours really gonna impress any employer at all, for which he didn't really have an answer.
All in all my initial appt with advisor started at 11.30am and I finally got out to head off home at 2pm.
Fucking glad I did have that valium now.

How long have you been signing on for? Never been on any job centre course my self (just had to attend this presentation for an hour once) but I thought it took months of being signed on before they got to that stage. Why didn't you just lie and tell them you had a CV at home but hadn't brought it with you?
