Gibberings CIX: Faulty 'y' key? Or just high?

like most degrees. Events Management? What the fuck!

So how does signing up to sky bet in order to get money out of them because there was a mistake in their system not equal a scam? It's hardly money they 'owe' you.

What degree have you got?

I thought it sounded like a fun thing to study at the time, I was interested in getting into events management anyway so a degree in it didn't sound like a bad idea, it just didn't deliver. It's got much better now since I left, more practical, lecturers that have actually ran major events and written books on the subject etc. Probably be quite useful compared to when I did it.

I did a bit of events organising after I graduated, for local charity. Putting on comedy nights and other stuff. Was fun but was volunteer work never got paid for it. Paid jobs in that field are few and far between round here.

Ceres, I recon there'll of been a loophole that people latched on to in their 1000's, which sky then closed and retracted whatever 'expoilt' it was ... this happens a lot with this kind of thing.

Kind of. They were offering £30 free if you bet £15 basically. Except they didn't restrict roulette so we all piled on and covered all bets, black, red and zero. No risk, guaranteed win. Cleared the bonus, cashed out. They realised obviously at some point over the last few days thousands of people had done it and decided they not pay. No rules were broken, if it's not in the terms it should be paid. Online casinos are run by rogue and are unregulated so they can do what they like.

Whoever mentioned Events Management .

I have a task for them it's not easy http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/603528-*******bluelight-meet-up********

Pull that off & you are one of the best in that field of work, is it work or just one of those things that posh cunts say is their job cos it sounds good ?

No one is saying it's their job. I said I have an honours degree in it but if someone works in events management what do you propose they say is their job instead? Surely if they manage events they do events management. Hardly posh is it?

Well originally I didn't know what I wanted to do. I was doing marketing in college and that wasn't for me but I wanted to go to uni anyway so applied just to do marketing at first when a bird in my class mentioned Events Management, thought it sounded good. Had visions of being taught how to manage raves and festivals etc. Loved uni but course was nonsense. Was the first Events Management course in the UK at the time (there's loads now) and they didn't really know what to teach us. Ended up just being a collection of general business, marketing and tourism modules chucked together and no actual event managing or event modules. Learnt nothing events specific at all. No running of events, nothing. :\

Yeah I will phone them tomorrow. It can involve anything I guess Yella, any sort of events, but like I say because it was all new they didn't know what to do and taught us little of relevance. Some of it was interesting but just not very practical, like we did modules on popular music and youth culture so I wrote essays on the rave scene of the 90s etc and we spent a lot of time listening to music and talking about it. Fun but not much use in the real world.
funny when i was at uni , i studied physics and ran events on the side...didn't need a degree to do it either...very successful events as i remember..you'd have enjoyed them spade

Ummm... he'd be on almost 60k per annum at that rate. You pay 9% of anything you earn over £15,795 before tax per year.

If he isn't PAYE, it might work different.

All I know is that he works for porsche, fuck knows doing what though.....

come to the german market in birmingham...come to see this modern city...a true feat of modernism in the 70s with all its subways, turned back to pavements in the 90s marvellous bus service and more canals than venice...biggest pre rapahelite collection in the world

Yeah it's one of these things where experience is needed more than a piece of paper. I learnt more from the few months volunteering I did than 2 years at uni.

The Bull Ring is a grade 2 listed building :)

i've been to the outskirts & driven through, but never been on foot in the centre. Its only an hour away so I should. I don't like shopping so I wouldnt bother with that but I should grab a friend and go for a mooch, its only an hour away.

I wasn't paying attention Spade didn't even know realise it was you that had said degree.
Seeing as you do how about that project ?

This happens with online retail and various special offers online all the time too .. and they usually retract it under some bullshit small print that the exploit or mistake has nowt to do with.

Back in the day before every company was online, there used to be tons and tons of pricing errors on all the major retail sites ... things like hoovers n shit advertised for £000.01 instead of £100.00 ... I did incredibly well out of hunting down these and finding them ... it used to be what HotUKDeals etc and MSE were mainly all about ... you had to get in quick but very often you got what you ordered .. this is before they started battening down the hatches so to speak.

I got 2 shit hot flat screen monitors (when CRT was still mainly in) for 1p each once .. from Aria or another similar company, cant remember. Tons of 99p bargains too

oh, and offhand I remember buying 6 huge hulking great Ice Making machines from comet. Travelled to Hull to pick em up for 99p each (shouldve been £99ea), and then sold em on ebay for £60 a piece

From my bank account? It doesn't say. Just that if there was no contact from me they'd be forced to start collecting the money. When I call them tomorrow we'll see what they say.

They can't take money direct from your bank. They could send you debt collection letters I suppose but other than that they're humped. It's not like they can even take it out your giro, because if you're on the giro then you're definitely not earning enough to be paying it back.

PTCH: Ahem: I mentioned advertising in my business plan did I not?

Ok, so add the word advertise in amongst the other stuff in my previous post. Just because you build it (& advertise it) it doesn't mean that they'll come :)

Re events management. My mate that's dressed as Pikachu in the What Do You Look Like thread has a degree in events management... she works behind a bar.

I reckon they'll be alright when I explain why I haven't been in touch anyway. I don't see me actually having to pay it back right now.

Aye it's one of those things that unless you get off your arse and start putting on your own events it's probably never going to be something you do, there's not enough events management jobs going round and the ones that you do see are for organising conferences and stuff, not something I'm particularly interested in.

Well done on getting an avatar immediately,

Sure fire sign of an alt. :sus:
