When i went to College i rinsed them for about £1000 it all went on drugs . I was in a bad place . I did finish the course it was a 1 year access to UNiversity course i was 24 when i did it.

Well originally I didn't know what I wanted to do. I was doing marketing in college and that wasn't for me but I wanted to go to uni anyway so applied just to do marketing at first when a bird in my class mentioned Events Management, thought it sounded good. Had visions of being taught how to manage raves and festivals etc. Loved uni but course was nonsense. Was the first Events Management course in the UK at the time (there's loads now) and they didn't really know what to teach us. Ended up just being a collection of general business, marketing and tourism modules chucked together and no actual event managing or event modules. Learnt nothing events specific at all. No running of events, nothing.

I found the student loans company really reasonable Spade. As long as you let them know whats going on and dont blank the letters. Ring them up asap and tell them you're on the rock n roll :D The longer you leave it though the worse it gets and they do start sending debt collectors etc out ( from what friends have told me).. £1 a week I was paying them for several years.

Yeah Spade what does that entail? Arranging conferences etc?

Yeah I will phone them tomorrow. It can involve anything I guess Yella, any sort of events, but like I say because it was all new they didn't know what to do and taught us little of relevance. Some of it was interesting but just not very practical, like we did modules on popular music and youth culture so I wrote essays on the rave scene of the 90s etc and we spent a lot of time listening to music and talking about it. Fun but not much use in the real world.

I genuinely have no clue what you mean by that. I don't know if it's because you've read my post wrong, or you've just quoted it wrong. I said "worrying to human beings in general".

The letter is dated from months ago, got sent to somewhere I no longer live and was simply asking me to update my records of whether I'm working, in the country etc but that if I didn't reply they'd just start taking the money back plus add more on to the loan. I only just got the letter. Hopefully I can sort it.

Start taking the money back from where??? Your student loan payments are either deducted straight from your wages (on instruction from the SLC to your employer) or if you're self employed they are added on to whatever tax you owe when you complete a tax return. You're not employed, they have nowhere to take the money from.

I'm currently earning nothing, I'm not even working. I'm sure a phone call tomorrow and getting the form sent back to them can sort it out. Tried to phone the tax office today to dispute the money they want back, says on the letter to call one number which I do, go through loads of options and then it tells me this department has changed number and to call another. I call that number and it says the same and tells me to call the other number I just called. Useless cunts. Couldn't get speaking to anyone.

I blame PTCH.

I went to college for a few weeks then sacked it. They'd fucked up the paperwork with my loan application. It seems the college also fucked up telling the SLC that I wasn't there anymore. Months after I'd last been at college I got 2 cheques, totaling £4.5k. Party time %)

Vital ingredient missing. Getting people to come. I could run a club night no bother, book a venue, book DJs, hire any equipment needed that I can't get my hands on etc. It would all be fucking useless if no-one showed up though.

I started a European Studies degree when I was about 27ish I think, they used to pay the whole years loan at the start of the first term, was 3.5k...I attended for about 4 weeks, and had spunked the cash well before Christmas, spent about 10 years paying it off, or so it seemed.

me wife has about 18 grand outstanding, she gets about 50 quid a month deducted from her salary before tax...a couple of years ago the annual interst charged was more than she'd paid off, so despite the monthly payments her balance owed went up... fuckin mad.

Student finance dont start taking the money back untill you start earning over 15k a year I thought it was, a mate of mine from school whos just turned 22 had repayments of £320 last month.. so im not sure what thats saying about his current wage

But if your not earning they cant take it away, dosent really feel like a debt when theres no one nagging for it
