Gibberings CCXI - Decorating a Horse with Fanny Pads

Can anyone recommend an Unlimited ISP which is better than BT? Their costs keep going up but their service just gets worse. I'm sick of the cunts and I'm going to shoot them in the face.

almost don't want to say it cos the bastards fired me, but I'd go with sky. Cheapest line rental, and there's often deals going on like free for the first 6 months or whatever (definitely do pester them to give over any deal information if you give them a call, we were basically encouraged to get maximum penny from customers during sales..... we were even meant charge £69.99 for a replacement router and only bring it down to the "alternative" price of £27 plus p&p if the customer really complained enough, but I'd always give the cheaper unless they were acting like a total cunt).

EDIT: for reference, I got fired before I got my free Sky and we have talktalk at home which is shite. TBH in terms of quality it really depends how far down the line from the exchange your house is, most faults I dealt with were either solved by replacing a bit of equipment, getting an engineer out to replace the faceplate on the telephone socket, or booking an openreach (i.e. BT!) engineer to sort an external fault on the line, which could happen with any service provider. You're really best just going with whoever you can get the best deal with imo

I've heard of a case where two friends lived on either side of the exchange, one got really fast broadand and the other was basically useless, because one was lucky enough to be at the start of the line, and the other was where the line circled back at the end...

I've just gone with Plusnet. Owned by BT so essentially the same.. Unlimited (not fibre) bb, £2 a month plus £17 line rental

Fair fucking play, I've spent the last 4 days smoked out - rather refreshing period if absolutely sedentary - I normally only bother with it over a weekend.

Tonight's stone (I re - started shortly after my previous post in this thread) is by far the best of the day, if not the weekend so it's particular loveliness will be henceforth named David Lean.

So in light of ths fact, I'm going to stick Micheal Manns 'Heat' BD on the old home cinema to take full advantage of the gorgeous stone.

I'll put a David Lean film on when I'm in a different hedspace, not one that thirsts to see De Niro and Pacino go face to face AGAIN (oyve prabably seen it ot least 5 times already over the yar's) and loads of people go apeshit and start firing the maddest and loudest automatic gun battle ever in downtown Los Angeles.

I'll be re creating it with my action men figures after. Why are they all androgynous? No one's ever given a reasonable answer.

Thanks mate, but I don't have sky . My subscription has gone up to £52/ month (though this does include a landline (which I neither have nor fuckin want) and BT Sport (which I REALLY do not want).

Actually that's probably better than you'd get with sky, we were 17.44 line rental and apparently £5 for the first 12 months then £10 thereafter (you can of course cancel before the cost goes up.... you'd be amazed at the amount of wankers that would give you a load of lip about how they were going to report me to ofcom and take my name as if anybody was going to give a fuck, because they thought we were outwith our legal rights..... terms and conditions biatch)

Probably for the best I'm out of that shitty job, but it was occasionally a laugh.

But mostly not.

You don't need a TV package to get broadband and line rental (and a talk package if you want one)

Meh, I'd take that with a pinch of salt... People only give reviews of ISP's when they're pissed off.

Ultimately all of the ISP's other than Virgin are at the mercy of Openreach to provide the service, and fix it when it goes wrong. Sky, Talktalk, BT, Plusnet... Its all using the same lines. But Plusnet's one of the cheapest, and all their staff are in the UK. I used to work for BT and it was shocking the amount of Indian staff I talked to who simply didn't understand what you were saying

This.

I suppose one advantage of a BT owned company is if you do have to get a fault fixed by an openreach engineer, you'd get priority booking slots I'd imagine? Most of the time it wasn't too bad booking openreach engineers, but occasionally I'd have to tell customers they'll be without broadband for days or sometimes even over a week. People don't like it when you tell them that.

Nah man, its the same for all companies. Openreach has got to treat all the companies the same

Off to go see if i can get my pc fixed. Hopefully my porn collection can be saved. Otherwise its going to become a boat anchor without a rope and i have to buy a new pc.

I contacted McAfee and they said they cant find a solution to FUBAR being in my pc so maybe i should get a new one and put it inside a giant condom..

^ even if your cpu/ram/power supply/whatever is screwed, your hard disk may be fine and you can just remove it and stick it in a new machine.

alasdair

The pc shop said i was looking at $400 to get it repaired. I rang Hewlett Packard support..learned how to get into the system restore area but that didn't work so i googled on my phone till i came across away to do a factory reset. Now its a matter of updating everything and starting my porn collection from scratch again :(
